Dont be such a sour puss. Just because you had a bad experience doesn’t mean they’ll have one.

Take your time learning. Don’t feel pressured or stressed. Remember it’s just coffee. Goodluck.

It is just a job and it is just coffee.
Despite what some customer think, coffee is not life or death. Mistakes happen, crappy days happen but in the end, it is just a job. Don't take the stress home and let bad vibes drag you down for the rest of your day

I like the difference between who just started and haven’t lost their will to live yet and those of us who survived and would love to burn Starbucks to the ground lol.

Side note my experience was wholly okay, I’ve just seen enough…

Don’t take it too seriously, and try to find joy in the little moments with your coworkers and the nice customers. At the end of the day, it’s just coffee and pastries. Nothing is worth a meltdown (easier said than done sometimes). If you really hate it, I’m sure you can find other work since a lot of places are hiring right now, so don’t stress too much over it.

You won’t pick up everything right away or remember all the recipes. You can always ask your fellow baristas, and eventually you’ll get to the point where a new beverage launches and you can already guess how to make it based on the ingredients. It’ll become second nature eventually, there’s no rush.

Also it’s never too early to start investing in a 401k! Assuming you’re in the US, Starbucks offers this as long as you’re eligible. Seriously, it’s basically free money that Starbucks will give you toward retirement that will grow. I believe fidelity will give you some free consulting as well to help with setup and choices.

Take advantage of spotify, headspace, perks at work, etc. And don’t forget to add your partner number to your customer account. We get 3 stars per dollar spent instead of the usual 2 customers get.

Get your mark outs, and if you have no need for them, you can always donate. Beans also make a nice gift.

Please don't be scared! I love working here😊 It all depends on your team. I work with a wonderful team and SM which makes work a great place. Yes, it is stressful at times but, in my experience the good outweighs the bad. Take a deep breath and enjoy the learning process. You got this!

Agreed. I am also new to the Siren, and so far I'm loving it. Especially over my last job. I have an awesome, super supportive team, a great store manager who is inspiringly positive but also very real, and so far the customers have been pretty patient and understanding.

Yes, there will be rough days, bad days, and even utterly horrid days. But if you have a good team, they'll likely be very few.

Welcome, good brewing to you, and always come around if you need anything!
