ice in nitro (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by gram_wc
are we allowed to add ice to nitro if a customer asked? have heard mixed answers
veganwifey 102 points 1y ago
Yes of course! If you’re not giving things away for free, harming anyone, or damaging equipment, then say yes!
C0ffeeCoffeeC0ffee 16 points 1y ago
Unless they ask for a Venti nitro lmao
veganwifey 9 points 1y ago
Yes then you fill to the top line and fill the rest with ice 😂
P_2_P 2 points 1y ago
To the middle line then ice to the top

phillipniemann 15 points 1y ago
Shoot then I must have been giving myself frostbite because I put ice in my nitro
Struggling05 2 points 1y ago
Guess not then lol. That’s just what a coworker told me when I asked
reclusivegiraffe 6 points 1y ago

Y'all are fucking crazy. Just give them the ice. Nobody likes room temperature coffee after sipping on it for a long time.
RedKamo 4 points 1y ago
Nitro is designed to be consumed somewhat quickly, before the bubbles fade off. It’s why I never order it, might as well just get a regular cold brew
happybowlita83 2 points 1y ago
In that case they should just order a cold brew, why ask for a nitro infused drink to end up with a cold brew with ice anyway 🤔
FfierceLaw 24 points 1y ago
Of course, and then silently judge them and share it over the headset so we can all laugh at their expense
GunshyBean 13 points 1y ago
Why are people opposed to ice in nitro? If I’m sitting down at a Starbucks i may get nitro but I usually order regular cold brew bc it’s colder for longer. I drink both black.
RedKamo 13 points 1y ago
I have been told that the ice causes the nitrogen bubbles to dissipate faster. That’s also why we don’t offer venti or trenta nitros, people can’t finish them before the drink goes flat. It’s just a drink quality thing. I’ll put ice in it if people ask for it, I don’t expect them to know this.
_Subhumanfilth 6 points 1y ago
The reason we don’t sell vinti or Trenta nitros is because it isn’t profitable. Sure you can order cold brew no ice but who does that ? Majority of people get ice in their drinks. So if you sold trenta nitros you’d almost be tripling the amount of cold brew given out for the same cost. I’m not a scientist but I’m pretty sure decreasing the temperature of the nitro with ice would actually cause it to hold the nitrogen longer.

A lot of ppl get cold brew w no ice.. like.. a shit ton of shitty ppl

That's weird. Physically, keeping the drink colder should prevent the nitrogen from escaping as fast
KurtzKOButtz 2 points 1y ago
I kinda like ice in my nitro from time to time.
martinifather 0 points 1y ago
I’ve always been told that technically we aren’t supposed to and we give ice on the side. The ice makes it so the nitro can’t have that cascading look or sum? it doesn’t really matter if it’s what the customer wants it’s what they want
Vincent_Cromwell27 -46 points 1y ago
I just give them regular. Not my fault they don’t want to listen and pay more for the same thing.
SegoMyLeggo 15 points 1y ago
Or just offer to put it in a cup size up? Not that big of a deal lol
