Who should I go to? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Accomplished-Claim94
Recently I heard one of my coworkers(I’ll name them Sam) say some racially motivated things about one of my other coworkers(I’ll name them Toby). It sounded really offensive to me, but I haven’t told Toby about what Sam said. I was going to call partner resources but I’m not sure if I should let my SM know beforehand. But I feel like everything we tell our SM kinda just goes over his head. So I’m not sure if I should tell my store manager or call partner resources.

Make sure you have a tight knit documentation of these things to be sure PR does something, dates times and quotes will help make it more solid so your SM can handle it properly.

This!!

You can also login to mydaily on the iPad and file an incident report - be sure to note if you notified your SM and what their response was.
I’m sorry a partner at your store is creating a work environment that feels unsafe.

Partner resources is the way to go. SM’s are almost never equipped to handle sensitive situations like this one and you will most likely put yourself in a precarious position.

I dont work for Starbucks, but I do manage people, similar to a SM in this situation. What I would want done if I were your SM is for you to call Corporate (I guess Partner Resources here), make the report, then tell me you did it before MY boss finds out. That way I can go the DM and tell them that the call was made and what the details are before Partner Resources gets to them. But that way, there is zero chance your SM will ignore it or avoid it.

Call PRSC and let your SM know after you made the call. He's going to find out anyway from your DM. Might as well give him the heads up so he's not caught off guard
