i’m sorry i love my green beans but y’all need to stop telling me what to do. 🧍🏻 (self.starbucksbaristas)

like i get it you’re figuring your way out. and maybe ur uncomfortable that i’m giving u advice and tips.

(but i have worked at starbs for almost 9 months but at 40-50hrs per week so almost a yr compare to 30hrs which is average. )

but just because i am 18 and ur 23 (1 month in) doesn’t mean that you should tell me what to do. especially during peak. i suggested to one of them hey do you want to do register and i can do drinks, so you can get a little more practice taking names and on register. they said no this is fine. can you just let me do bar in a rude ass manner.

mentally i’m like, ( bitch yesterday it took u the equivalent of me making 2 mocha fraps to finish a psl w no whip. ) anyways i’m faster on bar not but bcs of age but bcs of experience. everyone is.

so stop treating me like i’m a child. i know more abt starbucks then u. sure u might know more abt the real world but here i’m trying to be helpful and this bitch stressing me out. the end.

are you a supervisor? if not then it’s really not your place to ask them to move to a different spot especially when they probably want and need practice on bar. tbh, your kind of in the wrong here. i don’t know what “in a rude ass manner entails” but from the sound of this post you seen like a stuck-up and self centered person who thinks your the best of the best just because you have more experience

we have ONE manager 😭 who is almost always out. i know how it seems and i do apologize for coming off as bitchy but i am a genuinely nice trainer. i want the best for them. but they are being rude to me. like i am being nice and everyone else on my staff agrees. we have difficult trainees i should have clarified.

okay first of all having only one shift shouldn’t be allowed. there needs to be a shift on the floor at all times. second, you being a trainer is even more of a problem. you- more so than anybody- should understand that people need practice. you not only sound bitchy but a whole other level of rude, intolerant, and terrible. seriously, who brags about “knowing more about starbucks” when you’ve only been a partner for 7-8 months more than them?

as someone who’s also 18, you need to grow the fuck up and i hope you learn how to be a decent person as you get older.

you were new once too. getting bar time as a green bean is really exciting and if you're not a shift, it's not your place to tell them where to go and what they need to do. use your boundless starbucks knowledge to answer any questions they may have while making drinks, give them advice when they could use it, otherwise stay in your lane.

no i totally get it! i work at a franchisee cafe so we don’t have the same set ups for a normal corporate store. the thing is, i kind have to tell them what to do especially if i have two trainees and just myself throughout mid day rush. so i’m more focused on clearing rushes so we can catch up basic tasks like cleaning and doing clean play. i want them to train and catch up as well it’s just feels like a catch 22

You lost me when you claimed tenure for a year because you work 40-50hrs a week.

Coming from a Dunkin' worker I think you're being really harsh to someone who just started, I think if you move them from one station they're slow at, to another station they're slow at, it's just not gonna help. Like you said, it takes experience to be faster, so just let the green bean gather experience and maybe bring it up to them about how they talked to you. Don't let miscommunication ruin your work place

I agree with the other poster. And also, it might help not to use text lingo if you want to be taken seriously.

coming from a 1 and a half green bean i can understand wanting to go on bar especially during peak, i think it’s because it’s the main appeal of the job. although i would’ve just went on register, i think it’s your responsibility as an older partner to let them know why you want them on register/ not get upset when a green bean is eager to do something. i though starbucks was a supportive community? you’re attitude here was not very supportive ….

totally agree! and i explained to them i would appreciate it if you got more register time so you don’t feel as nervous. but yesterday when there was a rush and they were being rude to me and our other trainee for no reason. i needed to focus on getting drinks sent out and dealt with asap so we can do dishes.

Im about to start at Starbucks and I hope and pray someone will take me off bar during peak. Customers can be impatient af, expecting a fast food service. Honestly I agree with the op, and I don't think you sound stuck up, but rather fed up. It's a demanding job and you're just one person trying to keep the store together for 13 an hour. U got this OP
mrbubblegxm [OP] 2 points 1y ago
RIGHT? IM NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN. I don’t even take my 15’s because the store needs help. i am drowning and no one is helping.
