Trenta rant (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by [deleted]
I switched from corporate to a “we proudly serve” store and I’ve been retraining everyone on how to make the drinks because it was a free for all for awhile.

There’s one teenager who is a thorn in my side and she makes whips wrong even though I have the recipe laminated and taped up. She knows the new recipe yet she makes it the old way “because that’s the way I was originally taught” and it’s frustrating because I have customers complaining to me about it.

I’m not a supervisor. My supervisors know about this and they are talking to her but I wanted to pull my hair out.

To top it off she just makes drinks whatever way she wants without following the recipe cards so I have customers expecting it the way she makes it. When I follow the recipes I’ve used for years, I get to deal with the angry customers.

Oh and she tried to tell me that because I’m technically still “training” it means she didn’t have to split tips with me. (We split cash tips after every shift.) That was the last straw and I went and talked to my supervisor because I was exhausted and in tears.

I miss my corporate store and I’m considering going back at this point.

I’m sorry about that :( I’ve found that partners at the licensed stores just don’t care sometimes (shoutout to any licensed partner reading this who does things right!) since they can become out of touch with corporate and the standards. It’s crazy to me how little some of them seem to know because they go without proper training for awhile. I recently had the baristas at a grocery Bux tell me I couldn’t load a Starbucks gift card onto the app (and it was activated) 😭

It was more the sense of entitlement that got me
FairProfessional0 2 points 1y ago
Yeah, the unwillingness/lack of care to change her (wrong) ways
[deleted] [OP] 2 points 1y ago
Are you sure they didn't mean they couldn't load it for you? People come to my liscened store all the time wanting me to add money to their app and I'm like I'm sorry but I literally don't have a process for that on my register, I can load you a gift card but I can't do anything with your app because my register isn't a Starbucks register

No, I got a gift card and had them load it, and then I asked them to wait while I added the activated card onto my app in order to get my stars. They said I couldn’t do that and were surprised when I showed them the steps to move it onto the app 😅

Yeah I worked at a licensed store before going corporate and honestly I would hate to work with her in general. She sounds like a terrible person. Also tips are split period it doesn't matter if you're training or not.

Also I would never go work for a licensed store again typically depends on where you work I worked at a Barnes. The benefits are so much better a corporate not to mention the flow is better too and I work at an understaffed super busy store

Ironically enough my benefits through the company I work for are better here than Starbucks which is why I’m staying. I never thought I’d see the day.

Hopefully she just doesn’t last because it was intolerable today.

I’ve never heard anyone at any job ever say they have better bennies than Starbucks. Good on you!

Yeah I would avoid working with her (which I know is not always possible). Also I would just be upfront about her to management because they will lose people because of her
[deleted] [OP] 6 points 1y ago
That’s the saving grace. Management has my back on this one because I’ve completely cleaned house and fixed their kiosk. I fixed their entire ordering process too so they’re wasting way less product.

She usually works nights but she was also extremely rude to one of my best friends and his mom when they came in to say hi and that was enough for me to tell her to drop the attitude.
