Coffee Master (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by thomaskalnins
So I’ve been with the company for 2.5 years now and I was wondering if there was anyway to become a coffee master. I’ve done most of the training from before they essentially took the program away, filled out a coffee passport, and read all of the new books/online classes. I’m also the person that partners at my store and customers go to when they want to know anything about the roasts and blends we have.

I’m really passionate about coffee and wanted to earn that title of “Coffee Master” but I have no idea how to go about it. I’ve talked to my SM and my old DM (we just got a new one), and neither of them knew a whole lot. Is it possible to still earn that title and/or get a black apron? Any and all advice encouraged! Thank you!!

Unfortunately, no. :( They coffee masters program was “revamped” and is now the coffee academy. There is no black apron, and they’ve taken away components like the last 10 feet. It’s a real shame because I think there’s a lot of pride in wearing the coffee masters apron. A lot of older coffee masters partners typically have more than one and you may be able to get one from them. Best of luck to you!!

Okay shoot this was exactly what I thought :( That black apron just feels so prestigious in the best way, and the only ones I can find on eBay are like $60+ for one. Thank you!
