Morning crew vs night crew. Night crew left morning a little passive aggressive message (i.redd.it)

I mean that IS really gross dishes should never be left like that 😟
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] -116 points 1y ago
They weren't lol we just left a few unwashed dishes because we couldn't clean them all
LZARDKING 53 points 1y ago
I mean I don’t know your store situation but I’ve never left dishes for open but she did write a whole lot. This is why store meetings need to come back! We haven’t had one in years and stuff is just building between people like crazy.
[deleted] 101 points 1y ago
At least she said sorry. Plus if the dishes are being done incorrectly, why is she wrong for mentioning it?
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] -23 points 1y ago
she's wrong because this specific person that wrote it has been writing petty and rude notes in the book, she's got beef with every single shift that works in the morning. The dishes also weren't incorrectly done, we were slammed all day and didn't have time to do them so it upset her that we left a few unwashed.
LZARDKING 58 points 1y ago
Well honestly it sounds like she’s frustrated that really easy things like dishes are being consistently done wrong, that would irritate me a lot as well.
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] -34 points 1y ago
This closer always has bad closes she literally gets nothing done because she leaves at 930 exactly
dexterwolf1 9 points 1y ago
just curious… do you guys not have someone on CS or even
support doing dishes?
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] 9 points 1y ago
We don't have enough people to have someone on CS Unfortunately :( and we recently got a lot of new baristas that need a lot of shadowing so :/ it's just been the worst especially with the stores in our area closing
haydensidun -12 points 1y ago
Because she was being an ass about it. I have a lot of grievances I would love to air but I’m not gonna air them in a passive aggressive message in the play book
i_jlp_you -12 points 1y ago
An apology doesn’t mean much when part of it was still passive aggressive. From the additional messages, she said it to save face, not because she was sorry. Not saying morning crew is blameless or this didn’t need to be discussed, but it was def a flimsy “apology” on her end
Material-Leg5325 80 points 1y ago
this comment section makes me so grateful my am & pm shifts get along. may i suggest rallying against the common enemy that is Starbucks, the multi-billion dollar corporation that refuses to give stores enough labor to properly train or have adequate staffing to keep up with business? no one would be able to complain about dishes if you had the labor to assign someone to them, but Sbux doesn’t give a flying fuck about any of us :)

🗣️🗣️🗣️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Preach!
death2capitalism2 70 points 1y ago
why not just directly speak to them if there’s an issue as opposed to writing a fucking novel? this is what creates the morning vs night crew divide
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] 22 points 1y ago
Yup! But she doesn't like speaking directly to us because she says she hates confrontation
SpookySteve 14 points 1y ago
I doubt it. I'm willing to bet it's not confrontation, they just don't want full responsibility. Honestly they went through all of that, and then had the fucking nerve to go "ppqpq;wwease nno confruntatshun im shyyy 🥺🥺🥺👉👈👉👈👉👈"
saddestgirl1995 -3 points 1y ago
Exactly, I hate this shit.
stellavangelist 66 points 1y ago
It seems like the closer is the only one writing communication in the book. It’s understandable if you didn’t have time to do dishes in the morning, but it’s also the morning shift’s responsibility to write “we didn’t have time to do dishes” in the book. Pretending like nothing happened or “forgetting to write it down” just to escape your shift and leave the mess for closers is also a good way to foster tension in the work environment. I’m also guessing the closer didn’t just speak to the openers because either the openers leave immediately once closers are in or because the closer doesn’t want to have to come in early just to harp on openers for something they might not have even done wrong that day.

I’m an ASM. One thing our store was doing to lower AM/PM tension was have the people under fire by passive aggression actually initiate the conversation by asking face to face, “hey, I know you haven’t been happy with our work lately. I want to try to make your shift easier, what could we do for you?” With the SM there to mediate if it’s not the first conversation. This actually helped by opening a conversation, and because the upset party wasn’t feeling like they were being attacked, they felt more comfortable voicing their concerns. It also allowed for the opposite party to voice their own concerns freely. Our other implemented rule was that every single shift needed something written down in their section, because that way, there’s proof that the closer/mid actually was talked into their role.

Wack, I work 1 to close and do morning and night dishes.
icedcarfee 35 points 1y ago
as an opener myself, just make sure the dishes are done properly. it didn’t seem very passive aggressive to me, they were just saying it exactly how it was. maybe stop trying to start fights where they aren’t needed and just take the constructive criticism. i also hate when people improperly wash dishes, it’s gross and takes up more time having to rewash them.
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] -12 points 1y ago
🤔🤔this isn't the first passive aggressive note she's left if i could attach the others i would. She complains about the dishes but leaves pizza boxes and soda cans around the back so when we open we have to clean that up. It's not constructive criticism if she's just being Petty. I have already talked to the morning shift about how to wash dishes and how gross and unsanitary it is when they aren't washed properly.

This photo just proves the difference between morning and night. Like morning people never get their stuff done and if they do they suck at commutating it or writing anything in the book! I swear the nights shifts at my store are the only people that are consistent about writing things in the book and communicating to the openers. And yet we are the ones always getting crapped on 😤

Also yeah morning crew sucks at dishes, they only use the Hobart and even then they don’t even rinse dishes before putting them in. Sorry but this topic gets me so heated haha!
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] -6 points 1y ago
🥴🥴🥴I'm morning shift lol I have to say that WE at my store do most of the cleaning and we attempt to communicate but it only pisses night shift off and they just do a shitty close on purpose. Morning shift at my store fully wash the dishes because putting them in the Hobart is nasty and doesn't clean anything. 🥲🥲Sorry your morning crew sucks but mine isn't like this, we do majority of the cleaning and work and night shift just sits on their phones
kittykattt3 15 points 1y ago
This is why my SM makes all shifts work all day parts throughout the week so there’s no tension. It works fairly well
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] 8 points 1y ago
I've suggested that but most people have like school and other jobs and kids so we can't :( i thought it would be a fun and cool idea
Saradigm 11 points 1y ago
Yeah there’s definitely a more professional way to discuss these things.
shikiP 9 points 1y ago
? Do corp stores not use stickers that wash away in water? It shouldnt be too difficult to remove them...?? What are they even upset about?
jdestinyp 22 points 1y ago
No we do, but still, if you don’t actually rinse them, they don’t come off in the Hobart. That’s what the comment was referring to
noeyoureatowel 9 points 1y ago
It sounds like they’re talking about the cup label stickers, which do leave a nasty residue if they get wet.
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] 3 points 1y ago
She was talking about the day dote stickers
noeyoureatowel 11 points 1y ago
In both notes about the dishes? I see the reference to day dots on the dishes, but the other note about residue mentions “bar stickers”.

I remember the good ole days before we had the book. Other notes were left at my old stores so having a book vs not it happened. Sorry that you had to open to this.
cringeqween13 6 points 1y ago
I read this as "I'm not day doting teas anymore because I don't do the dishes right" literally if they let the dishes sit in water the day dots fucking dissolve. I fucking hate the Hobart because so many people treat it as a dishwasher even though it doesn't clean shit and there are a lot of things that shouldn't be put it at all
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] 7 points 1y ago
YES omg I've told everyone not too use the Hobart as a dishwasher it's disgusting
Mayachees 5 points 1y ago
Your morning crew does dishes!! 😱
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] 2 points 1y ago
I'm sorry yours doesn't :(
Adventurous_Board933 [OP] 0 points 1y ago
Yikes seems like all the closers are finding this post and using it to air out their grievances, sorry y'all's morning crew suck! ❤️I wish you a good morning crew someday

Edit: Grammar mistakes
fuxkyachickenstrips -12 points 1y ago
Lmfao I would have made it so uncomfortably confrontational for her that she’d never do that bs again. Guarantee she feeds off that.
