My shift got verbally abused and corporate doesn't give a f*ck (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by blue-haired-barista
It was a very normal afternoon shift yesterday (Saturday), and my shift was doing her best keeping everything together despite shit being broken and it being an unusually busy Saturday. One customer however, was particularly upset about their trenta dragon drink. The dude called the store, for my shift to pick it up, of course. At first, the dude was just complaining about his drink and how the coconut milk didn't taste right or something. My shift asked him what size he ordered-- and the dude went OFF. He freaked tf out on her and started calling her names and everything, demanding to speak to someone above her. And of course, no store manager in their right mind would be there at 5pm, not to mention our SM is currently on vacation. So, my shift had to sit there and take it to the point of her breaking down in the back room. She gave the dude the number to the point of contact (our lead shift). When the phone call finally ended, the dude called our lead shift and of course, he gave the dude the number to corporate. In the end, the dude gets two free drinks the next time he comes into the store. My shift tonight was dreading his arrival. Thankfully tonight was not the night he decided to collect his prize for abusing our coworker. However, it will probably be tomorrow night- thankfully not a night that shift is working, but of course, a night I shall be working. Wish me luck.

Fuck you, corporate, for taking the abusive customer's side and not the side of your own employee doing their fucking best. đź–•

That’s the thing though…. They literally call and complain and they are “ALWAYS RIGHT”. It pisses me off. What do we ever get….. For constantly getting called names, degraded and just be disrespected over a damn beverage… NOTHING. I’m so sorry that they went through that experience. It makes me sad/upset that she broke down. I hate that. I HATE how easy it is for them to call and complain about us but so complicated/tedious for us to try to complain about them or “incident reports” as they call it. Can’t even do that because that’s for “serious” cases……. Like I don’t get how we’re suppose to stay motivated & respectful and overall nice to these customers who verbally abuse us and our partners…..

These customers are so dumb. It's like people think they won't get free stuff unless they risk stroking out from putting on a pantomine of disgust and anger.

I go to starbucks a lot. Often enough the drink is slightly wrong but still drinkable. Only rarely do I hit up customer service on the app and stress that the workers were wonderful and friendly but the drink was made wrong and can I please be credited back the money (because oftentimes I save my drink for later so either starbucks is closed or I don't want to go back to the location to get it fixed.)

corporate will always give you the free drink! People don't have to be abusive turds to get it.
It honestly had to be that a significant portion of these people don't have healthy outlets for the unhappiness in their lives, and also want to get a free drink so why not get a twofer and yell at someone to feel like it wad their impassioned "arguments" that earned them the replacement drink.

It's just not needed. *shaking my head*
