Staffing and pay issues closing stores. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ReEliseYT
Things have gotten so bad my home store will be down to only 3 shift leads with no asm soon. Other stores I pick up shifts at are all having the same problem. Even if they still have some shifts, there are so few baristas and most of the new ones only last a month at best.

Most stores in my area, including my home store have drastically reduced hours of operation. One new store can’t open because there isn’t any staff to run it, another down the street from me is temporarily closed until they can get staff.

Is anyone else having these problems? I have a new job and won’t be at Starbucks to much longer because of the starvation wages. How the hell can starbucks expect to keep staff when McDonalds Tacobell target and Walmart all have starting wages at least 4 dollars an hour more than we do? Does anyone else feel like we’re witnessing the fall of Starbucks?

I hope it is the fall of Starbucks and I wish I could personally see the shocked Pikachu faces of all those corporate dumb fucks.

“Ohh shit it turns out we need workers to run our stores?” It’s like watching a snake eat its self.

Lmao we currently have two shift supervisors and no manager, no ASM. I WISH they'd cut our hours of operation.

Fuck me that sounds awful. How the hell are you keeping the store open?!

i’ve been with starbucks for only 3 weeks and my entire experience so far has been an understaffed store, partial operations (drive thru and mobile only), and a majority of our partners on LOA, quarantine, or just calling out every day. Our SM is managing two stores and is never at our store, it feels like we don’t even have a manager. I worked a closing shift yesterday with only three partners, including myself, and it was a nonstop rush from 12pm-6. Everyone tells me that a lot of new partners quit in the first few weeks, and i’m starting to see why. I got this job mostly for the benefits, and i’m starting to feel like those benefits aren’t worth the 8 hour panic attacks, and being yelled at by customers for not working fast enough when we have like one person on bar. It feels like this is the story of every location right now

Idk i just don’t see how sbux is gonna fix this

my store is slowly dwindling as well. it’s definitely not as bad as what you have going on, but in my year with the company i have never actually considered a new job until today. the painful hours, the shitty shifts of being slammed with drive thru customers to the street, staying late to make sure that at least stock is done and things are relatively clean. like yikes, i don’t blame my fav coworkers for moving on. but y’all stay safe, godspeed friends :)

my answer as well. "slowly dwindling"

seems to be slower than other stores around the world and even other stores in my area.

It's so weird to me to hear that target and taco bell pay so much more in your district. For a barista in Syracuse, NY it's within a quarter pay rate plus we get tips (for target at least, idk about t. bell). We still have staffing issues. When one store closes early we call to see if those staff want to come over to pick up the hours.
