Got upset at my closing shift for misgendering a partner behind their back (self.starbucksbaristas)

So we have a regular that comes pretty much every day, right? This mom and her kid in the passenger. The kid is a minor wjo works at Starbucks just like the rest of us. Worked with them at another cafe store before it closed down, and I showed them how to close. This time, that partner wasnt in the car with their mother, and the mother talked to my shift about the partner, continously misgendering the partner. My trans coworker overheard the mother say "thats the name she chose for herself, I don't and won'y call her that" and that set my coworker OFF. She went to the back without a word and took off her headset and fuck I dont blame her. That's so shitty. When she came back out after the customer had left, a few minutes later we had a discussion and like, my coworker had to explain it to my shift and my shift was like "i dont want to argue about this" and i was just FLABBERGASTED.
In the end the shift apologized but omfg. That was awful.
