I really like Lyra but I wish I had enough sessions to where I could have one a week instead of having to sparingly spread them out over the course of a year. When I started using it at the beginning of this year I NEEDED at least one session a week. Realistically I probably needed inpatient treatment but that’s a whole different issue. I’m lucky that right now I’ll be okay with spacing out my sessions. I haven’t consistently been in therapy since June-July because I ran out of Lyra sessions and my therapist doesn’t take my insurance. Sure I could probably get a new one that’s in network but I really like this one and he’s helped me through some serious trauma since I started seeing him. I’ve decided to start seeing him twice a month again starting in October and I’ll pay out of pocket for any additional sessions if I feel I need it so I don’t burn through them so quickly. I think 20 Lyra sessions is a great benefit for people who are working through maybe a short term problem but it’s not built with people dealing with multiple ongoing mental health issues in mind. It helped me when I really needed it and made getting therapy so accessible and easy at a time where I couldn’t mentally handle trying to figure out insurance stuff and finding therapists in my area, but being cut off so abruptly and not being able to adjust very well sucked. If you start using Lyra, just try to think ahead and figure out what you’ll do when you run out of sessions.

Every time I try to go through there initial assessment It says ‘GO TO AN EMERGENCY ROOM’ and then won’t let me schedule and appointment so I wouldn’t know.

to be honest, headspace has actually been SO beneficial for me. i struggle a lot with emotional regulation and self care, and having access to all those free guided meditations and mindfulness exercises has been so so nice. also, i’m an opener and usually wake up before 3am, which means i’m typically going to bed around 8:30 or 9 and idk if i would ever fall asleep on time without the sleepscape music on headspace lol
