Free drink policy changing for baristas (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by hails_storms
I heard that we’re not going to be getting a free drink on our days off anymore, and we are going to be limited to the amount of food we can get. This sucks!

Kinda sucks because some of us rely on the food markout on our days off. Money can get tight and I always get a panini on my days off. Same with the home store stuff, I have a store waaayyy closer to me that I usually go to but now I don’t want to even go get Starbucks anymore. I just work here

Honestly me too I only have the mark outs cause I ain’t got any money left

Literally same. We don’t make enough for what we go through at starbucks, nor to cover all the bills that come with life. There’s been days when I literally only ate a starbucks panini, or a breakfast sandwich.

so, I know this is fucking dystopian as hell but plasma donations if you're near a center and qualify. New donor incentives right now are really good, like $100-150 the first few times. I wouldn't regularly donate when the incentives are over but the $40-60 a time for regular plasma donation is enough to keep you in food and a little gas until you can find something better to get you through.

also, food banks! they are here for you for just this reason! A lot of them you don't even have to provide any info. Just go. They want to feed you!

I mean you were limited anyway on the amount of food you could get it just wasn’t spelled out.

True, its supposed to be one a day. Which, 7 days in a week surprise. The only part I hate about the food specific part is that it's only at your home store. I live 35min away from my store and have tried transferring but we're so understaffed I cant. And I dont have a way to reheat food at home without microwaving it

I mean it makes some sense. Take away the one food item a day like they’re ending on October 4th and you’ll only need your food mark out when you’re at work.

if you have any thrift stores near you I've picked up toaster ovens that were big enough to do two big pieces of beef back when I was travelling and staying in a motel. I think it cost me $10. Toaster ovens are the shit!
