Karen starts crying (self.starbucksbaristas)

On my mobile and new to posting long texts/stories on reddit. I apologize in advance.

Well we closed at 6.00 pm today because we were shortstaffed. It was just me and another person working this evening. We both started working here last month.

So this regular lady comes here pretty much every other day. She gets 1 or 2 frappachinoes and always try to get extra stuff without paying. Every time she will get a Cr frappachino, then taste it, and be like "Can you put some pumpkin sauce on the top?" Or "Can you put some extra crunch?" She even had issue with me batch making 2 Caramel Frappuccinos. She wants me to make hers only and not batch with others.

She came today around 6.15 pm while me and the other person were washing and cleaning up behind the bars. Well she came and started ordering,

K: A grande Caramel frappachino......

Me: Ma'am we don't have a closing person tonight, so we are closing early today.

K: You guys are closed???
THREW HER PURSE AT HER CART (I work at Kroger Starbucks)

Me: panicking inside and tryna get attention of my coworker.

K: STARTS CRYING AND SAYS - I didn't know y'all closing early today. No one told me. KEEPS CRYING WITH NO TEARS COMING DOWN.

Me: Ma'am our blender is already unplugged, and blender parts are in the sink. I can not make frappachinos right now. And if I take your orders, I have to take other customers order too

K: KEEPS CRYING

Other co worker jumps in: I am sorry. This is my second job and I am ready to go home. I can not take anymore orders. Also she had school in the morning and then this 8 hours shift. We are both leaving. We don't have any closing person tonight. We open tomorrow at 5.00 am. We can make your drink tomorrow.

We don't give her any chance to talk and move to washing. Well she leaves mad and sad. I am pretty sure a complaint is coming on my way.

Never knew someone would cry for frappachinos. I did feel guilty after she left crying but then I remembered she had her birthday twice in the same month.

Once we closed early and upon telling a customer that she proclaimed, “How am I supposed to teach?!”

I would think to myself “Go to McDonald’s and get your frappe there” 🙄

We laughed and told each other that if she needs coffee to teach at 5pm, she has bigger problems.

I am kinda worried now. Can I get fired for this kinda stuff? My manager told us to close early yesterday.

Lol you’re more than fine. Your manager told you to close early, you closed early.

One of the few joys I have as a closer: locking the doors and windows exactly at closing and taking off my headset and watching them just burn with anger outside my store😈 Oh sorry I can't hear you I can't open the doors once they are locked🤷‍♀️

Ooh that was one of the best parts for me when I was a closer 🌚 especially when they drove up to the window trying to get me to open the window and waving me down. I’m just like nah chief, you know I’m closed at this point byeeee 👋

I closed last thanksgiving a woman came through about an hour after we closed, with proper signage on the Dt screen and yelled “helllo?????” After not being waited on for 10 seconds. I answered her saying “I’m sorry but we closed at 3 for the holiday” and she goes “well what are you still doing here?!?” Ma’am what are you doing at Starbucks on thanksgiving
