I’m finally gonna quit (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by CuteLittleKarty
I’m a 300 and started in late March. I just can’t do it anymore. Being treated like I’m no better than the dirt under customers shoes. I love my coworkers but I can do it anymore. I’m physically ill from just the anxiety of going back in for another shift. I thought I would anyone on here who did quit, how did you do it? Did you put in your two weeks or just say you’re not coming back? Because I would like to stay on good terms with my coworkers. So any help would be appreciated.

If you can physically and mentally, it is always a good idea to leave via a 2 week notice so as to provide ample opportunity for replacement coverage and to appear professional.

However if you physically and mentally cannot go into work, then i would suggest quitting immediately. No job (especially one that won't give you anything on the way out including the 2 weeks notice you should give them) is worth sacrificing your physical and mental health over.

Thanks so much for the advice! How would you suggest giving a two weeks notice, or quitting immediately? Would an email do? Or should I write a physical letter?

Type a physical letter, give it to your store manager, then on the same day send that letter slightly reformatted as an email to give your management a digital record to refer to.

This will help everyone cover their asses. Yours because there is both a physical and digital record so in case one gets lost there is a backup. The store gets covered because they have a physical and digital source to use for finding coverage and changing availabilities.

Edited to add: the professionalism answer is two weeks, but your physical and mental health is yours and yours alone, so I can't really answer as to whether it is smarter for you personally to quit immediately or to give 2 weeks.

No problem, make sure you also tell your manager you are going to email them btw, so it doesn't look like you are emailing them out of spite/anger.

I feel like this too. And I dont know if its the lack of ingredients to make drinks with or that the customers are worse than ever. Or if Im just getting sick of it. I keep telling myself I should do it longer. Be a supervisor..Make more money. But if I hate it I should just quit right? Really cant decide.

i would definitely give two weeks so that you can have starbucks as a reference on your resume. most places recognize food service as a high stress gig, so if your SM has good things to say about you it'll look quite impressive.
