As far as I remember it's official Starbucks-only pins as technical policy. The dresscode specifically calls out that "Starbucks issued pins securely fastened" as OK but does not call out other pins as not OK that I'm seeing, but it would imply such by that phrasing.

In practice it's extremely YMMV by store and SM whether anyone cares. I've known a lot of people who wear a lot of pins.

Something to think about is if you want to put yourself in a position to explain what it is if people ask. It's a heavy topic and not one people are going to expect to come up out of the blue. Customers might ask what the pin is and not be expecting such a heavy topic. Someone (whether lacking tact, social awareness, or less harmless reasons) might ask about your past or why it's an important topic to you. Other partners might get involved in the conversation, etc. The point of awareness campaigns is to bring the conversation up. I'm really not sure Starbucks is the place for that. I don't know that any of that is *likely,* but it probably should be considered if you want to wear something like that, so it doesn't catch you off guard.

Also I'm very glad you got out of that situation OP. All my well wishes to you.
