So today a barista tested positive for covid, I had been exposed to her within the last 48 hours, but since I’m vaccinated I don’t have to isolate? Is that how this works? I mean I’m not trying to get out of work, but I am concerned. Also half our crew is gonna be out, we’re screwed.

That is the rule but honestly, I thought the whole point of the quarantine would be protect our customers and partners; kinda shows that's not their priority
TheOnlyNewKyler [OP]24 points1y ago
Yeah, I think regardless we should all quarantine. I can still get and spread the virus even though I’m vaccinated
Jvitts14 points1y ago
Exactly. I got my jabby jabbies too but I would quarantine if exposed to protect people at risk.

Also I found out from a coworker, at least for my store. If you’re vaccinated it’s optional to quarantine but if you’re not, then you get paid leave. But Covid pay only works if you’re not vaccinated

Starting October 4th, self isolation pay is only for those that are vaccinated.

This is so stupid because it's an incentive to not get vaxxed???

I was exposed directly three times but because I’m vaccinated I kept having to work.
I’m lucky I didn’t catch covid a second time but it’s one of the reasons I quit.

It depends on where you are located but yes, current CDC guidance is that those vaccinated do not have to quarantine after exposure.
Some workplaces have policies that go above and beyond the CDC basic guidance.
If you chose tontest yourself however and you are positive, you would still need to isolate, even if vaccinated
TheOnlyNewKyler [OP]6 points1y ago
Maybe I should get a test honestly
CasqueeraColdFoam6 points1y ago
Yes, you absolutely should. PCR, not rapid—those aren’t very effective for people who are vaxxed and asymptomatic

i don’t understand this rule. especially w the 2 variants! i understand the vaccine protects *to an extent* but why risk having someone continue working and exposing even more people…

It’s all about making numbers and money for them.

My manager gave me the option when I was exposed to quarantine (I’m vaccinated), and those who weren’t vaccinated were to quarantine. I liked that my manager gave me the option even if I was vaccinated but I’m not sure if that’s something that all managers do or if they’re suppose to do so or not.

Are you feeling any symptoms? And I mean, literally any? Even if your nose or throat tickles, you can say that you have symptoms.
TheOnlyNewKyler [OP]2 points1y ago
I always have allergies so it’s so hard to tell, I’ve had covid before (December of last year) and the only way thing that was different was a severereeee headache and losing taste and smell. I don’t have any of that currently, but my I have some congestion possibly you could say. Idk The lines are so blurry with this stuff it seems
bryceofswadia4 points1y ago
I definitely totally didn’t exaggerate my normal allergy symptoms as covid symptoms when I was exposed outside of work and didn’t want to expose my coworkers but they were gonna make me come in anyway because I’m vaccinated. I definitely DO not recommend exaggerated your symptoms as that would be very bad. No one would know if you did, but you still definitely shouldn’t. Nosirree, do not.
