What do you suggest when people ask for a recommendation? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I never know what to say. I always just say the Apple crisp macchiato but it smells like Michaels at Christmas and I don’t actually think it’s good. I panic at the question every time

In order to open up more of a conversation with the customer, I’ll ask what amount of caffeine, coffee or more fruity, hot or cold. I also ask if they’re asking about my personal recommendation, my regular drink is a grande cin dolce with an extra pump and 8 shots of espresso 😅 which frequently gets a bit of a laugh, or if they’re asking what drink is most popular (along with the questions I mentioned earlier)

Caramel macchiato and the brown sugar shaken espresso are my go to recommendations

I've gotten several customers to like a shaken espresso with blonde shots and half the standard pumps of toffee nut (or brown sugar) and white mocha and like 2 pumps of caramel with no classic. I always let them know though that it's a more expensive drink before I ring them up though.

My other suggestions are:
- iced coffee with vanilla and caramel
- venti iced white mocha with half standard pumps of white mocha, extra mocha drizzle (for pretty effect), heavy cream, and extra shots. If they also want it, add some vanilla bean powder which I personally am "eh" on but some really like it.
- hot drinks would be a hot latte with 2 pumps vanilla and 2 pumps caramel
- con Panna (or however you spell it) with a pump of white mocha and a pump of pumpkin sauce OR dark caramel... and if they're a partner I suggest a brownie to shove on the bottom of the cup... 🤤 (it's so good y'all... 100% unhealthy but amazing to sit and inhale on your break... extra awesome if your shifts let you just take the broken or soon to be expired food items)

dirty chai with ristretto should be easy to make and it tastes great, plenty of sugar and fat (depending on dairy) and is caffeinated.
