I am a new Barista Trainner. Tomorrow is going to be my first day training two new green beans. My store manager has given me nothing to get ready to start training. Is there any trainers or SM out there willing to give me some information on where I should start tomorrow with the green beans?? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Get the store ipad and go to the ‘store resources’ app then open it up and scroll until you find ‘train a barista’ that’ll have pretty much everything in it

How do you k ow my SM??

I don't but if they haven't given you any guidance on training then I hate them.

My SM does not give anyone guidance on anything. The SM comes in sits in the back, might make a few drinks and a big mess and leave.

Ok you should have at least 4 days. Emphasize the different roles & go through them slowly. Do whatever order feels right. I do Bar, Warming, Support, Register, Drive thru, then end back at bar throughout the week.

That way they have practiced all the jobs & will feel prepared. I was a trainer but I transferred stores & they deadass don’t train people at my store. They just throw them in after they finish modules & let them learn through mistakes. I feel so bad for them bc if I was their scheduled trainer I’m sure they’d have a less stressful experience.

I wish I had four days. I have 3 days to go over everything PLUS be Bar Back UP. What kind of BS is that. The two people I am training this week only have 14 hours of training before one goes to the location she is going to work at. They other person is going to be working at my location. Also my SM gave me a folder of stuff yesterday and said you have to do it in this order because I feel it is the best to train in this order. I read over it yesterday and it is so not a good order. So I am doing it my way. What is she going to do fire me for mixing it up and making sure they both learn as much as they can from me in the very short 14 hours they have with me.

As long as you cover everything & that person feels prepared, as far as I’m concerned, do it ur own way. The Starbucks training process is watered down with so much specific information that they won’t actually need. Skip all the tastings, the bean lesson, & the educational stuff that they frankly won’t remember. Just stick to basics, that person will thank you for keeping it simple.

I have a folder my SM gave me to go over with them. I looked over it once and said to myself “nope, I’m not a person that will sit and read P&P to a green bean.”
I tell them both how it is. It can be a hard job. Stick with it for a month and everything will work out fine. You just need to remember cold bar, hot bar and everything you will learn with time. I also have them cheat sheets to keep with them.
