It all DEPENDS on management. I love my store and partners, but seriously despise my manager and his way of running the store. It's a fucking mess. That being said, I sincerely hope you find a good store with an adequate manager.

Another thing is that there a ton of benefits at a corporate store, so that might make it worthwhile. I would advise you to reach out to the SM in person and ask about the status of your application. That way it shows him/her you really want to work there.
