Alright… I’ve been working at Starbucks since 1st week of August 2021. I have heard them talk about tips and how they are distributed amongst all baristas…. But they have never showed me the process of signing off on them weekly nor did I know this was a thing. Do I talk to HR about this? This is messing with my money and taxes. Thats a no no for me. I asked our new manager about the process and she keeps telling me it is my responsibility to make sure I collect and sign off. Today is the first time I was told to collect and sign off…. I don’t know what my responsibilities are IF NO ONE TELLS ME ABOUT THEM. What can i do?

Just ask your shift on duty for your tips. They don't get redistributed if you don't collect them that week. They should all be in the safe with an envelope with your name on them and you can sign off on each week after verifying it is all there. While it is true it is your responsibility it is pretty crappy no one told you that until now seeing as you would never know! However unless when you ask for them they tell you no or they aren't in the safe or it is short then there isn't anything HR is going to do really. I would start with asking for them from your shift make sure they are correct and go from there.
