Is it just me or does everyone else dislike the free puppacinos? When I worked at a tar-bucks this grown adult couple would come in everyday and get four puppacinos and then ask for spoons. I quit, but before I left target was getting slow milk deliveries and we were out of HC every other day. Started doing the puppacinos halfway along the side of the cup to the top when they’d ask for grande puppacinos and paying customers couldn’t get whip on their fraps cause we’d run out so fast
Betty001124205 points1y ago
Grande puppacino? All we can give out is sample sizes
sofso99 points1y ago
I guess it's different for us in drive thru stores. We get to see the dogs, and dogs are always the most pleasant customers we have, so I don't mind them at all!
FfierceLaw41 points1y ago
100% I know 2 dogs by name and see them through the dt camera, I call them by name and get them hyped for their cup
Animuthrowawayplz20 points1y ago
There's a couple of dogs where I know their name, but if you asked me for their humans' names, I couldn't tell you. It's also been so long since I started serving them that it'd be Hella awkward to ask.
FfierceLaw8 points1y ago
Lol priorities, I get it!
lovesickjones1 points1y ago
this made my day
_lanalana_78 points1y ago
I dont mind when people get them but people who come through every day or insist i give them a bigger cup than the sample size ones we use (one dude wouldn’t leave until i gave him a full venti sized cup for his pug) make me really sad bc theyre really just not good for dogs
Ordinary-Theory-828933 points1y ago
No dog needs that much whipped cream wtf
astivana25 points1y ago
The only change I’ve ever made to the size is as requested for dogs with large snouts. We don’t give them more but we’ve put them in oatmeal bowls once or twice.
_lanalana_11 points1y ago
Wait thats so smart tho usually for big snouts we just size up the cup a lil
TuraChi [OP]9 points1y ago
Yes!! That and the fact that they stand at the hand off table and don’t wait at line!!
Logical-Doubt-602141 points1y ago
I don't like them because they're horrible for your dogs. Especially people who get it for their dogs everyday 🤢
RottenFries36 points1y ago
i… kinda like them? i mean i didn’t have any people trying to get one for themselves yet but when we are not busy i always offer it if there’s a puppy in the car. if we are busy though ill just pretend i didn’t just hear a bark coming from somewhere in your vehicle
philosopher_cat_lady7 points1y ago
Sometimes people get them for their child or I offer one to a well-behaved child whose parent didn't buy them anything. Then I give them a spoon or a straw.
PiscesQueen2413 points1y ago
It gets annoying after a bit, specially in the middle of peak . Also whipped cream is bad for dogs lol
darkwolf5237 points1y ago
While there is nothing inherently toxic to dogs in whipped cream, that doesn't mean whipped cream or other dairy products necessarily agree with your particular pooch. ... So, not a part of a balanced diet, but a little whipped cream is probably OK as an occasional treat. Keyword, occasional
indiemads9 points1y ago
I don’t mind when people actually place them with their order. What bothers me is when people consistently ask for them at the window. Just. Ask. For. Them. When. You. Order!!! Same with water cups man.
Crowchick17311 points1y ago
This! But also if it's busy remind me at the window because I have the memory of a goldfish 🐠
humanitiesmanatees9 points1y ago
Sample size all day any day loved doing it. Grande sized?????? Who approved this
brokenleftjoycon7 points1y ago
They get annoying when people don’t order them at the register and then bother you during peak at the handoff. Same goes for people who ask for ice water after the fact. If it’s too busy, I’ll tell them they need to wait in line and that often discourages them. It really breaks your concentration and sequencing when people do it during peak.
wickedrevenant6 points1y ago
One of our stores had a box of milkbones too. I wouldn't ever argue with folks about the puppacinos, but they're awful for your dog. I'd just let them know we had biscuits as well, hoping they'd choose that option. Also we only have out sample sizes as well, GRANDE puppacinos? TF???
Yaguurt5 points1y ago
Unpopular but I never cared for the dogs that come to DT. my other partners fawn over them but I just keep it pushing. Job made my enthusiasm for costumer connect plummet 🥴
GiantBeardedGuy5 points1y ago
They were definitely giving those to their kids. I had a customer that would get one with a spoon and then hand it to their toddler.
marilynmansonsbitch7 points1y ago
“haha she calls it ice cream!”
Allopathological3 points1y ago
Why would you give a child just a cup of whipped cream?
BluejayHefty2024 points1y ago
We give them in the cold cup sampler they don't get short cups of whip from our store
Grouchy_Arugula72574 points1y ago
We only guve a doppio sized puppaccino. It's a treat, not a bloody meal!
FfierceLaw4 points1y ago
If I can see and talk to the doggy, I’m happy to get a puppuccino, but I don’t like to get used for free whip for humans
Euphoric_Collar5653 points1y ago
Short cups are for short drinks. We need to get a designated “pup cup” ALOT SMALLER. i don’t care. It’s fucking heavy cream and vanilla for your dog… YOU SHOULDNT WANT ALOT?????
darkwolf5233 points1y ago
Free? We charged them 75 cents in a small cup.
pandiechu1 points1y ago
corporate store?
darkwolf5231 points1y ago
Yea
Chemical-Less2 points1y ago
Our rule was it was 1 pup cup per person (no exceptions) and if it was any bigger than a short sized we charged for it (also no exceptions). We work w a lot of kids lmao 😩😭
Marinaseaglass2 points1y ago
I have to share this. Every time I think of puppaccinos, this video comes to mind and makes me laugh.
https://youtu.be/v0bwcz5oKLA
lovesickjones2 points1y ago
😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
chellichelli2 points1y ago
Yep, I hate that shit. Heavy cream and vanilla syrup doesn't do much for humans, but it's really not great for dogs, especially every damn day. Plus, they're annoying to make and the people asking for them are so fucking demanding.
briannuzzi2 points1y ago
giving out puppacinos in the drive thru is my fav part of the day hahaha but like everyone said we only give out sample sizes and I’ve never rly encountered anyone ask for more than that so I could definitely see how it would get annoying when running low and ppl keep insisting on extra
Soldier23041 points1y ago
You guys in starbucks have a lot of patience.
paladin-miraak1 points1y ago
I hate them because they’re not that good for dogs and it just makes me feel SO bad giving them out!
heathermj101 points1y ago
when I was little (and starbucks was still diedrich’s coffee in socal) my mom used to get me little cup of whip cream if I was good, I don’t mind doing this for kids or the puppuccinos. some of our regulars and I will swap pictures of their pups and my kittens. idk I think it’s fun
LxShadowKnight1 points1y ago
Frequently, when I’m on window or see the dog in the camera on DTO and the customer doesn’t ask for one, I’ll offer them up. They’ve never been an inconvenience at my store, and it makes the customer feel though of that I’m offering things that they didn’t ask for. It usually makes them and their puppy smile. I love giving out puppachinos
ThatOtherGuyTPM1 points1y ago
They’re my favorite part of the day, although there definitely aren’t sizes for them. You get a sample cup.
IfuDidntCome2Party0 points1y ago
Wait. You quit, but you are still upset enough to post about drinks the store offered for free? You got paid to be there. I know it's easy to stress out about something nobody in the corporate office is stressing out about.
If you had a problem with supply, you could have asked your manager if there are any size or quantity limitations to avoid being out of stock prematurely.
The manager could have reviewed basic rules, if any for the drink, and go from there. If the manager didn't sweat about it, then I wouldn't. The manager could buy more HC at a local grocery store, or from Target.
You run out of HC, oh well, someone should he ordering more based on current demand or buying some from a local grocery store if needed. It wouldn't be the first time a Starbucks Store was out of a product, so I wouldn't have sweated it.
philosopher_cat_lady-1 points1y ago
My problem with the puppuccinos is they often ask for one at the window or if I offer them one at the window once I see they have a dog in their car, there's this one barista I work with who is dying on the hill of "do not touch anything on the bar if you're working drive-thru." Even though lots of our COVID protocols are gone now and COVID really doesn't spread that way. Anyway, if she's on the bar or working drive-thru with me, I've gotta get a bar barista's attention and ask for a puppuccino and then get one. That's not easy, and it takes a long time where the customer's waiting for a simple-ass drink to make. The sample cups and the whipped cream are literally a foot away from me, but \*GeRmS\*.
airernie2 points1y ago
Unless she's a manager or SSV I'm ignoring her ass.
Fortunately our cold bar is 180 degrees from drive thru, so it's far easier for the drive-thru person to get them.
philosopher_cat_lady1 points1y ago
She's insistent as fuck and really rude so I do my best not to bother her or talk back. I don't feel like dealing with my mean coworkers' manufactured drama over a puppuccino.
