Do I have to sell my stocks? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by liquidcoffee110
I've just given my ASM my two-week notice. We don't have an SM currently. What do I have to do with my stocks and my 401k? Should I sell them before I quit or will they still technically be mine? Is there anything else I have to tie up before my last day?

You need to talk to Fidelity in person. They will help you move things around so you can purchase any vested stock, so it is 100% yours. I accrued a massive amount before I originally left over a decade ago, and as soon as my two week notice was received by HR everything was frozen, since it was the granted stock and it hadn’t been put in my own separate account yet. Long story short Fidelity attempted to argue on my behalf but I ended up losing thousands 😓since the stock was originally bought at such low prices.

Thank you so much! My store has been without manager since I transferred (in july) so I had no clue what to do!

That’s sounds rough. But anytime I can give out info so others can avoid the same pain I endured 😓. Definitely ask the rep if they recommend selling part first and then having the rest put into your own private account. That way you can treat yourself to a last day at work gift!

Hi! I’m on a similar boat here. I have 8 shares but 4 of them mature in November. I am waiting for the day they mature to leave. My plan is to move them into my own Fidelity account and just keep them for the time being. If you leave before any of them mature, you lose them. Hope this helps!
