There are certain items that are warmed by default, and others that we're supposed to recommend warmed (at least in my region)

Bagels, croissants, coffee cake are warmed.
Muffins, cookies, brownies are recommended warm.
Most other pastries are not warmed by default.

They either misread the sticker, forgot, or are more relaxed about maintaining standards. That would only happen as an accident where I work

This is accurate :)

Thank you!

I don’t assume it’s warm unless it’s a panini, breakfast sandwich or bagel unless instructed not to otherwise for pastries I always ask.
Brgnbo 8 points 1y ago
I usually ask if you want pastries warmed, sometimes in a rush I just send through the default which is usually warmed.

in short- no, pastries do not automatically get warmed. most baristas will ask if you want it warmed or not but if you don’t ask, many assume you don’t care. if you definitely want it warmed you should always ask for it warmed, since it’s a crapshoot otherwise

no the standard for coffee cake is warmed. it should come warmed if you do not specify
moongirl5 2 points 1y ago
Thanks. I wondered if they were just in a hurry since they marked the bag as warmed but didn't actually warm it.

There are actually some pastries that are warmed by default, like another comment mentioned. The barista can even tell on the register as it will say warmed or recommend warm under the item. If the bag says warmed under the item, it should be warmed, whether it’s by default or not. The warming partner should always warm it if it says warmed but usually the register partner will clarify with the customer and can void the warmed option. You shouldn’t always have to clarify. For example, if someone asked for a bagel and didn’t say warmed, they would automatically toast it. Many customers don’t know everything we need to know (like if they want whip or not) and baristas should ask clarifying questions if they’re unsure.

I'm not sure that it says 'warmed' on the sticker, so unless the person taking the order specifies it, our warming person won't warm it.

i agree . nothing is warmed unless the guest specifies which is why you always ask beforehand

there’s definitely pastries that come warmed. there are a few that don’t, but even then we’re supposed to ask.

Sometimes our ovens are wonky. Sometimes the items cool really fast, especially in air conditioning.. Sometimes there's a million different things going on and someone accidentally makes a mistake
moongirl5 1 points 1y ago
This definitely hadn’t been heated at all. It was cold as in refrigerator cold.
emileeavi 1 points 1y ago
Like I said, sometimes it's the oven, sometimes we're doing a bunch of things and someone messes up. And sometimes someone accidentally gets one of the frozen items and sells it and it's still frozen and after the oven is done its still cold. Shiet happens

It's always best to ask but sometimes like our bread loafs we don't usually warm them. But for sandwiches, egg bites , crossiant, warps they get warm up (sometimes they take it with them unheated).

I always specify when I don’t want something warmed. Personally, I don’t like my pumpkin loaf warmed, because it seeps out the flavor just a bit. I ask to just leave it in the wrap so I can take it home.

Same thing with my muffin, I don’t get it warmed.
