Tenured partner pay raise (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by [deleted]
So my district is getting a raise this month. New partners will be making $13.60/hour and I, a 5-year partner, will be at $13.78/hour.

I know this isn’t anything new with Starbucks, but I’m frustrated by this. It would seem that a Fortune 500 company would 1) be able to payout tenured partners more for their time with the company, and 2) be able to payout all partners more for their labor. It’s frustrating that a leading cafe chain has no interest in paying out more than their smaller, local counterparts.

Seeing as how this appears to be a well-known problem regarding the company, I’m wondering what can be done about it. I guess my questions are 1) can Starbucks actually afford to pay out their employees more, and 2) if so, what can I/we do about it?

In Denmark, McDonalds employees get at least 20 dollars an hour and 6 week paid vacation. The difference in price of Big Mac is not much and can actually be cheaper than some US locations.
