Should I stay or go? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Zatana07
Hi, if this is in the wrong place I’m sorry but I just need some perspective/advice. When I joined the Navy at age 18, I thought I would be in for 20 years. Unfortunately that was cut short due to a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder Type 1. It took me a few years to accept this and to take and stick with my medication and accept that some things other people can do, I can’t. The longest job I’ve had post Navy has been working as a barista and I’ve been recently promoted to supervisor. While this is good, I feel kind of behind my peers. I’ve recently found a love for art and I considered going back to school for art therapy (I have a bachelors and masters in English Education) but my parents don’t think it’s a good idea because it would put me in more debt and hamper all the progress I’ve made. What do you all think? Should I stay a supervisor? Should I go back to college? Should I get a certificate in art and then become a wedding painter?

For me personally, I would try out the supervisor at Sbux. Since you did mention you have an English Education degree, maybe you could sub/ feel out the different schools. I was sort of in this boat with an education degree, but not wanting to do it at the moment, but I tried subbing and found a good school
