Barista Training (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by GroundbreakingIdea18
Hey y'all! I just started my training at starbucks 2 days ago. So far my BT taught me about cleaning equipments, warming foods, memorizing the pastries and mark out dates of ingredients, and prep of ingredients. And so far i've been feeling overwhelmed and very anxious about every step i make. I overthink things, and when I forget something like the mark out date of this one ingredient, i automatically feel bad and worried. My worries get worse when i think that one day im the one whos going to make the drink, the what ifs. What if i forgot the recipe, i forgot to put this and that, to that and this. My manager is very kind and patient so does my BT and other barista. What can i do to lessen these worries? Will it get better once im more comfortable? Any tips? 😅

Not to worry you more, but you're going to get a lot more thrown at you when you start bar training. Just take your time and ask questions.

Remember that everyone started out where you are now. We were all green beans without a clue how things were done. Give yourself time and make mistakes. It's how you learn and grow.

You'll get it all, in time.

Yes, I also worked at Mcdonalds for 6 months and i think thats where i got my anxiety during training. The management there sucks, and i always hear the manager saying bad things and making fun of me while they leave me on floor without a trainer. That is also my one of my worries that if i messed up with this barista training, they will make fun of me or somethin.

Thank you for this.

And I hate that for you. So much.

If any trainer is worth their salt, they will be right there, telling you horror stories of when they were a green bean and all the mistakes they made.

Starbucks has a steep learning curve and without that small amount of levity in training, it's awful. I wish you the best.
