At the end of the day, doesn't really matter 95% of guests stir the drink anyway

By dispensing into the shot glass first, you are allowing the shots the separate into their layers. When you pour the shot into the drink the different layers move to different areas in the drink. When you dispense directly into the drink the shots are not properly layered and so don’t separate into the areas of the drink properly

I can imagine that would definitely make a difference, though for whatever reason at my location most people end up stirring their drink after we hand it out.

Sure, but what I tell other baristas is that it’s honestly really not so much more difficult to just catch it in the shot glass and pour it on top like standard. Catching it into the milk (or water for americanos) is not all that much faster/easier and it won’t taste the same as opposed to just waiting for the shots and finishing the drink afterward. That’s how I feel about not shaking teas/refreshers too; I mean it’s like slightly easier to build in the cup and not shake, but it’s not the same flavor and only slightly easier to make. But, you know, to each their own I suppose.

No. It does mess up the iced caramel macchiatos though.

How does it mess it up exactly? After the shots pour, I still top it with the caramel sauce
rio8envy78 points1y ago
Because you shouldn’t be pulling shots on top of iced drinks. It waters it down more that just putting shots on top.

I’m not trying to be critical. I’ve just gotten yelled at for doing that. Dude we all do things we’re not supposed to myself included.

It doesn't really matter at the end of the day, it's Starbucks lmao it ain't high quality and most people mix it either way

It tastes different, don't do drinks incorrectly just to save time!

Anybody remember when the standard was to pull directly into the cup? Cause it was. Prior to the pass being introduced. Remember the little metal pitchers for the shots that we were told not to use because it affected flavor? It’s not a coincidence the shot glass was introduced at the same time peak times were beginning to be discussed.

Starbucks should really invest more in up front training if they want consistent drink quality... just saying. It doesnt matter if no one has told you otherwise..
