I love my Job but.... (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Coffee_MomSter
Hello Partners! I hope everyone's doing good. Anyway, I love working at Starbucks especially at night shift with my cool coworkers and my shift leader. I started working at Starbucks last June so I still consider myself a green bean. Recently, my work schedules change and I now working morning. The morning Shift leader always assigned me to customer support every time I worked with her. All my shift ( 4:30 hrs or 8 hrs ) she will always tells me to do customer support, front and warming and I don't mind doing that. I understand I'm still a newbie but I know a lot of things already like DTO / Window and a little bit of bar (I'm good on making refresher). One time on my 8 hrs shift I told her if I can do DTO or something else aside from customer support since I've been doing it for 6hrs that day. She told me to ask the next shift leader since she's gonna be in charge on the next shift 😔 I don't complain but I wanna learn something else. My night shift leaders rotate my tasks every Night and I like that because I had a chance to practice and learn more. I love working at Starbucks and I super super love my job and my coworkers. Now I'm starting to hate it because I'm doing the same thing (tasks) every day. What should I do? Should I ask to transfer to another store or should I quit and look for another Starbucks to apply? TIA

You’re supposed to be rotated in different positions throughout your shift, talk to your SM.

That's was I was thinking too. I'll talk to her soon. Thanks

I had this exact same issue but reversed so for me the night shifts were the problems. For many reasons, that being a good one I had to transfer out of that store. IMO do anything you can do to talk to the manager again an again if you need to. But don’t let it stand cause I know I wanted to walk out on a job I loved multiple times because of that exact reason and store.

I would talk to your SM

Thinking about that but don't want my Shift leader to get in trouble. :(

Most likely they won’t get in trouble, but you do need to talk to the manager since you have already tried talking to the shift.

Thank you. I'll work with her again tomorrow and I'll try to ask her again about the rotation. If she won't assign me to another task then I'll talk to my SM.

That's so frustrating. I'm even newer than you (started a week ago) and I already feel fairly confident making a variety of drinks, I just need my little guides with the number of shots/pumps for different sizes. When I don't know how to do something, my co-workers are great about answering my questions. In my short time I've already done every position, and it seems like they want me to learn everything as efficiently as I can. Putting you on customer support like that does the opposite thing. Maybe they just don't want to have to answer questions? Either way, I hope your SM is receptive when you talk to them.
