heyo—

just had onboarding today and my first shift is tomorrow; 9-5. any tips to take with me on my first day? to preface, i have been out of the workforce for awhile. but prior to that, i worked. i have shift leader and catering experience but i’m just nervous. i feel like i’ve been out of the loop for so long. i’ve since developed severe anxiety since i last had a job and just don’t want to freeze up or mess up too bad. pls help :(

On the same boat as you. Today was my second day working since January and yesterday felt overwhelming since I basically have no trainer and I got put on register immediately. Luckily I worked at a sbux some time ago, but you should get proper training. Be calm don’t try to be fast your first week. Make drinks and orders as accurate as possible the speed will come when you gain confidence that you know what you’re doing.

I'm new as well, definitely don't be afraid to ask questions when you're not sure, and don't be afraid to ask to be put on a different station if you're not so confident there yet. Also, there should be a few little guides with the information you need to make different drinks somewhere in your store (number of shots/pumps), they're an absolute LIFESAVER when you're on bar!

Just know that any mistake you make can be fixed, everyday you will learn something new, and patience with not only everyone around you but also with yourself! Shift here w/ 3 years.
