Anyone else losing partner drinks and food? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by viktorluvslemonade
Partners at our store were allowed free drinks and a food item while working, then a free drink and food item when not working, but starting today (Oct 4) apparently that's no longer going to be the case. Anyone else's store also doing this? Did I miss a newsletter?
dazedandconfusedhere 112 points 1y ago
Yes, it’s corporate wide. I believe it was last weeks weekly update
viktorluvslemonade [OP] 31 points 1y ago
Dang that sucks. Is it true that it's 7 food and 7 drink items a week?
dazedandconfusedhere 68 points 1y ago
7 food items per week, marked out during a shift (or 30mins before/after) and unlimited drinks during your shift
It_is_Katy 18 points 1y ago
There's a limit on the food? I'm new but at my store we mostly just grab whatever. Not the paninis or anything like that, but anything behind the counter--pastries, loaves, egg bites--is fair game. No one keeps track or says anything.
medusas-garden 16 points 1y ago
Ultimately it’s down to personal responsibility, unless you have super micromanaging managers they’re probably not going to say anything. My store operates the same way. My SM cares more about everything being properly marked out more than if you’ve marked out more than one food item during an 8 hour shift. Definitely won’t be the case for everyone tho.
deeciphered 3 points 1y ago
That's sorta how my store is. Pastries and stuff there isn't really a limit but if it's big things like a panini it was one a day

Ahh okay, thanks for clarifying!!
philosopher_cat_lady 2 points 1y ago
It's not unlimited
dazedandconfusedhere 2 points 1y ago
Yes it is, but you can only have one at a time and you can only mark them out while on your break

Revolutionary_Map907 2 points 1y ago
I never heard that and I’m a manager
dazedandconfusedhere 1 points 1y ago
This isn’t true. The only rule on number of drinks is you can only have one drink marked out AT A TIME, and you should only be marking out drinks on your breaks.
mrbubblegxm 80 points 1y ago
oh. no i dropped this panini and squished it a little guess i can’t serve it now. time to eat lunch 🧍🏻
Darcie_Autham 36 points 1y ago
I’ll eat all the rejects and broken food items lol whatever gets sent the way of trash I’ll rescue it. Some of it is perfectly decent. lol
viktorluvslemonade [OP] 35 points 1y ago
Oh no I crushed the cake pop, whatever shall I do
Lower_Virus_5741 1 points 1y ago
Yeah boi😎🤤🤤🤤
darkwolf523 28 points 1y ago
Yea it’s true. It was in a weekly update. Because “partners” said no.
viktorluvslemonade [OP] 16 points 1y ago
Ah yes because the partners said no. Don't listen to this entire store saying that this is stupid nah it's what the partners want.
darkwolf523 18 points 1y ago
Exactly. All they did was just asked the higher ups what they think and just called them partners
coochieglock2000 16 points 1y ago
Probably the ceo “partners” that make thousands 🧍🏻‍♀️
darkwolf523 5 points 1y ago
Yup
[deleted] 19 points 1y ago
Y’all don’t just have an unspoken code?
Chemical-Less 11 points 1y ago
I wish 😩😩 my usual shift is an asshole who doesn't allow us to take food (even the donations that j end up nowhere anyway.....)
dkr1829 13 points 1y ago
Yeah it’s in the weekly update from last week already. And it’s literally said “based on partners’ survey/ opinion, st like that 💀💀 Well I really wanna know who said they don’t need any free food and drink anymore

Seven good mark outs for the week and one drink either thirty minutes before or after your shift and one during. But most stores will let you have as many as you want while you’re working
lilcherry02 5 points 1y ago
yeah, I've had so many partners from different stores complaing about it, it does suck :/
ayakowantsmemes 3 points 1y ago
This was how it was pre covid and I was really hoping they wouldn't bring it back :(
willywankaz432 3 points 1y ago
That’s weird. My manager told us that they are limiting it two two per day’s scheduled. You only get 7 a week and they say take another for days you have off.
Superduperfreddy 3 points 1y ago
So what exactly was the COVID ruling on that initially?
Chemical-Less 12 points 1y ago
From what I heard at the start of the mark outs, it was SUPPOSED to be in effect until the end of the pandemic. Guess they got tired of us getting free things 🤷🏽
dkr1829 10 points 1y ago
Well they don’t want to give us free stuff anymore, that’s fine. But since the pandemic hit, our store went from a 4-5k$/day to 7-9k$/day. And somehow our DM said the corp been losing a lot on their revenue 🙄🙄 I don’t get it, technically not losing anything from my store. We stopped happy hour at the beginning of the pandemic as well. But now everyday for me on cold bar is no different from happy hour.
interyx 8 points 1y ago
Yup. Plus the drinks keep getting more complicated. And some of these orders are huge! But if the drive times slip you never stop hearing about it.

I just don't care anymore.
dkr1829 2 points 1y ago
I know. And right when Idc anymore, in Texas I guess, they raise the pay rate for barista from 10$ to 14$/hr. And SSV raise to 17$ already. Dang this corp.
Zealousideal_Ebb4679 2 points 1y ago
do the seven food markouts have to be from your own store??
Fun-Ad-3757 2 points 1y ago
Yes while you are in shift…
Catch… 7 items per week if you only work 4 day’s you can markout 2 per day. Or you can do all 7 in day shift… we’ve read and discussed over and over and that’s what we understood and so did all the partners around the district..
Lauri925 2 points 1y ago
Yes, have to be taken when actually working
Zealousideal_Ebb4679 1 points 1y ago
ahhh thank you!!
Ashemodragon 2 points 1y ago
We are a franchise in the uk and all we get is one free staff bev when we are working and then we get a 30% discount on anything else we want to buy
Ethan010529 1 points 1y ago
That's horrible, we are allowed unlimited drinks on shift, in the UK too, and sometimes free food, dependent on SSV and if there's a lot of waste
dkr1829 2 points 1y ago

It was in the weekly update a few weeks back. Can’t do free drinks or food unless you’re working.
Revolutionary_Map907 1 points 1y ago
Yes everyone but you willl still get it on days you work just 30 min before shift during shift and 30 min after and you can still receive 7 food items a week just not on your day off I’m a manager so I know a little bit not much lol

It has NEVER been unlimited drinks during your shifts, partners! The drink policy is one drink within 30 minutes before your shift, one drink on a rest break or meal break during your shift and one drink within 30 minutes after your shift.
YoungAEngineer 5 points 1y ago
it may not have been that way BEFORE the pandemic, but a good majority of partners have never worked pre pandemic. they have all been used to the free drink and food you can get off shift. even though the pandemic is still very real, they cut these benefits.
kailadeweerd 1 points 1y ago
it has? i was hired and told unlimited pre-pandemic.. 30 minutes before and after your shift you can also get a free drink. trust me, that’s how it’s done at my store at least
