Latte art tips (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by [deleted]
Been working at Starbucks for about 4 months and have been on bar a ton due to short staffed and people quitting me some quickly becoming one of the more experienced workers. Anyways, been trying to mess around with latte art but am struggling, my microfoaming is good, I just can’t get the art down. I’ve heard our shots make it harder to do and I assume doing it in a cup vs a mug makes it harder. For starters I’m definitely not the most artistic individual but was wondering if anyone had any tips for starting out with easy latte art?

How do y’all have TIME to do latte art, I’ve never really had a chance to practice :/

sometimes during peak and when i get frustrated from trying to put out so many drinks at once i just cool down and do them at my own pace and stop caring 🤍 not forever but enough to get a few good quality drinks out 😌

yes i’ve done this. or when i do 20 frappes then have a hot mocha i’m like nahhh ima do a latte heart to make myself happy cause these people can suck my toes and wait 20 more seconds to get their coffee

It’s like “would my manager rather have me get stressed and quit cause it’s not worth it or stay calm and not quit?” I’m gonna guess enjoy myself and not quit

Not caring is honestly key

I just kinda decide to give myself the time. Adds maybe 10 seconds? Manager hasn’t said anything 🤷🏻‍♂️

When you start the pour, start slow and aim at the dead center of your slightly tilted cup. Then as you get up near the top you will start to see foam drop in instead of milk. Get really close to the top of the cup and pour steadily as you bring the cup from tilted to flat. The hand pouring the milk, slowly bring it up and away from the coffee to finish. This method gives you a monks head. No movement of the art hand necessary, all movement comes from the hand holding the cup. Paper or ceramic, doesn't matter and our espresso definitely doesn't effect our art ability that much, however the wide pouring spouts on the steaming pitchers, is... not ideal
