I didn't for being Trans but im diabetic and that's why I got the job for insurance, initially. I'm one of few who love the job and stayed tho.

It takes about 3 months, or 240 hours I think, compiled in that 3 months to even qualify for insurance

Edit: I'm exhausted and words are hard

I’m pretty sure this question has been asked before but you’ll find a lot of answers in the r/trans subreddit addressing this.

There are many reasons I took the job at my local Starbucks. The supplemental insurance was just one of them lol

To be eligible for benefits, you need to have worked at least 240 hours during a 3 month period. After then, you can sign up with the insurance carriers that operate within your state. It doesn’t matter who you pick – they’re all going to reject your prior authorization. Find a surgeon who you can trust, preferably someone who has experience with coordination with Starbucks. Have them submit the paperwork on your behalf. Get that rejection letter and take it with you to use within the supplemental insurance because that is the one you will end up using.

All in all, you should expect this process to take 9 months to 1+ yrs. I’m about 5 months in with my own timeline. I’ve done everything on my part. Now it’s just a waiting game.

Still a good answer. I was willing to fork out $100,000 for Dr. K. I shit you not my surgery is this Friday. But my final appeal denial for my current insurance was denied… a week ago. The hospital I am schedule for surgery at wants to charge me and I am F’ing quoting them after my call yesterday $100,000 to $300,000 on top of what I paid Dr. K.

Yikes. 100k for any surgery is bonkers to me (unless it’s lifesaving – and I suppose in a way FFS is lifesaving, but still…) Insurance carriers are sometimes worthless. They’ll fight tooth and nail to NOT provide treatment…
