hi! piggy-backing off of this question, do we get 30% off the entire purchase i.e a drink and food item or 30% off of beverage and 30% off of food?
spookbish698 points1y ago
I believe it’s the entire purchase

Wait, so no 30% discount anymore on our days off?
sydbey_12 points1y ago
your 30% discount should always be applied with partner numbers

I don’t work at SB, just big fans of your work, but I just want to say this is such bullshit. Cutting costs this way is asinine. It seems to me if they would focus on retention of employees (fair and appropriate scheduling, benefits, better pay, etc) they’d save way more over whatever this is trying to accomplish. Hiring a new employee costs far more than retaining the good ones you already have, which SB seems to give zero fucks about.

So you know, the additional free food/drinks on our days off was a *temporary* extra benefit they added at the beginning of Covid. Instead of it lasting only a few months (as originally planned) while many people were out on temporary leave of absences, they kept extending it for over a year. We still get free drinks when we work, 7 free foods per week, and 30% off all purchases. It was of course nice having the extra benefit, but it wasn’t at all surprising that they decided to end the temporary benefit.

I get it. But they’re ending this while there’s still a huge worker shortage, and retention still seems to be an issue. This isn’t the way. It costs a lot less to let an employee come in and order even the most expensive drink and food item than it does to train a new employee.

yes thank you

Yeah I’m pretty upset about it. They gave us tiny raises, but they’re still nowhere near paying a living wage and we’re working generally two or three people short of properly staffed, and still my store easily does $10k/day in revenue. I’m developing an itch only unionisation can scratch.

Yeah on your day off you only get your discount. You can mark out something the day you work and save it for your days off though.
This new rule is really dumb. I know partners that would use their food mark out everyday cause money is tight for them. They couldn’t just let us keep this? They pay us shit anyway, Starbucks can afford to give us mark outs everyday.

You definitely still get your discount and weekly bean markout
