Anyone else having issues with lids not staying on cups???(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Mooncat1999
My store has been getting a bunch of cups with slightly messed up rims, just enough for the lids to not stay on. How are we expected to have short wait times when now we have to pretty much inspect every single cup?? A customer got burnt because of it and now a fellow partner, who obviously couldn’t tell the lid wasn’t secure, is in trouble because that customer is filing a lawsuit. Is it just our store having this issue with cups??

In my store it's the cold dome lids that don't want to go on. Feels like every other dome is getting thrown out. We have to apply perfect, even pressure all the way around, which adds time.

ITS SO SCARY AND BAD. I HATE IT

Unfortunately no, I’m constantly watching drinks being spilt because the cup is too flimsy & collapses on itself or because it has an indented rim & can’t keep a lid on. Some customers also pick up cups really stupidly & it genuinely isn’t your fault that it was spilt but you’ll still get the death glare. Lots of love & support to your fellow partner tho, the person filing a whole ass lawsuit over COFFEE sounds… insane.

I smashed two fraps today trying to get a dome lid on them.

For some reason if you double cub, dome lids go on easier. I have no clue why.

I’ll have to try that today!

Sorry, just a customer, but I’ve been noticing this a lot lately with my coffees! I’ll get home and go to pick it up and notice it had popped off and spilled all over the cup holder or will easily come off as I try to pick it up and spill on me! They feel loose and weird and I hope they fix them soon for everyone’s sake!

For us it's the Grande Venti dome lids that won't go on. I spend an extra two minutes per drink trying to snap that lid on before I ask my partners to try. We go through about five lids before we can find one that fits.

we’ve had so many remakes because people spill their drinks in their cars and i feel so bad bc usually it’s during rush so it takes like 10 minutes to get their drink. but what’s going on with the production of those lids? i have no idea but that partner shouldn’t be getting in trouble for another thing corporate has started neglecting.

It’s because we’re switching manufacturers (I believe cause of shortages) so some of the lids you get won’t quite fit the cups correctly 🙃 double cupping hot cups helps but we usually just start throwing lids until we find one that finally fits lol
