Hi I’m a new barista at Starbucks and I get confused with the Steps on how to make iced brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso. Can someone pleaaaase help! (self.starbucksbaristas)

Usually how I do it is;

1.) queue blonde shots (remember it’s always an add shot!)

2.) while the blonde shots are queueing, I fill my shaker with ice, put in the designated brown sugar syrup pumps, usually do 2-3 shakes of cinnamon

3.) I pour the shots into my shaker with everything and shake it up like craaaaazy so it’s nice and foamy

4.) I pour it in my cup and top it off with oat milk! I know some baristas top it off with cinnamon too but everyone is different!

Every routine is different but this is how I do it!

I usually just grab the size scoop correlated with it and dump that much in, it’s always worked for me

While that does work most of the time, the official communications have said not to trust them, just fill it to the appropriately sized cup's ice line on the shaker.

Whatever you do DO NOT put the syrup in the cup first. So many baristas do it at my store and I want to scream every time I see it

It’s not the recipe
Everything goes into the shaker first, then the cup.
When you put the syrup in the cup instead of the shaker in my opinion leaves to much of a chance of diluting it and the syrup won’t be properly distributed amongst the body of the drink.

Oh, I'm sorry, I totally misread. I thought you meant not putting the syrup in the *shaker* first. Like you absolutely must put the ice in the shaker first or something and I was extremely confused as to why you were so vehement about it! Lol! But yes, understood, and I agree. 👍👍

So ice first always right? I was thinking wouldnt it be easier if I pumped the syrup first? Lol

As long as you’re doing ice, syrup, and cinnamon in the shaker first it doesn’t really matter the order. A lot of baristas at my store have this habit of pumping the brown sugar into the cup itself for some reason

a partner at my store puts syrups in the cups and mixes it with the espresso but it makes me angry bc i feel like it gets stuck on the cup still

Sure! I find that’s the best way to fit the drink in the cup without all that ice and foam filling up space.
