:rubs temples: It's like y'all don't even read the communications...
_lanalana_ 14 points 1y ago
Nobody reads them 😭 i had to explain it to no less than *6* partners who came through today and i know most of my coworkers are still giving people their drinks free when they come through
uwumoment 1 points 1y ago
we got new managers at my store and the weekly updates haven’t been printed for about 5 weeks now. seriously don’t remember the last time i read one. probably going to quit because of how incompetent the new management team is.

They’re available on the hub for all partners!

I don’t read them, nor will I start to now, they be takin away my food now smh

You're getting no less food than you were before. You still get a total of 7 food items. They just have to be gotten on your working days.

Personally, I feel this works a little better. I could get a sandwich on my lunch break and then get another one to take home after work and heat up on my day off the next day. Then I don't even have to go into the store at all on my day off.

The only thing you're actually losing is a free drink on your day off, and the ability to go to a different store for your food or drink item.

So do you markout a food separately multiple times then? Is that how you’d ring it up
RyusuiJL 3 points 1y ago
Yup. Unless we're told otherwise, that's how we've been doing it.

This was in the weekly update like 2 weeks ago. You can mark out 7 food items a week but they must be marked out on your shifts, no limit to how many per day anymore as long as you don’t go over 7 a week. Drink mark outs are now back to the standard benefit of as many drinks as you want starting 30 minutes before your shift until 30 minutes after your shift. You no longer get mark outs at locations you aren’t working at or on your days off.

Guys. Guys. The free food and drink markout every day, no matter whether you worked or not, was a temporary benefit during the worst of the Covid shutdowns. Prior to that, we only had one food item per day worked, plus drink markouts only on days worked. Prior to that, guess what… we didn’t even have food markouts at all, but we had the usual beverage markout policy. I know a lot of you were hired during the pandemic, and I’m rarely one to defend corporate actions, but even this reduction in food benefits is generous. 7 free food items a week, no matter hours worked, plus drinks before, after, and during being on the clock. There are battles to pick, and this is not it.

-Edited to say that they even extended the benefit, which was set to expire earlier in the year. I’m about as anti-corporate as they come, and our free food is not where the problem lies.

I told myself I was going to quit once I stopped getting free food and drinks… and I probably will.

Starbucks makes too much money to not allow markouts to continue, especially drink markouts when it costs then like .50 to a $1 to make for most drinks.

We love a fake liberal company.

That was one of the reasons I started working there. I work two jobs and it helped keep grocery cost down when I get to eat a sandwich or box or something for dinner smh. It’s like taking away someone’s raise man, how tf you do that??
OneRoseDark 7 points 1y ago
You get the same amount of food. You just have to mark out all 7 items while you're working rather than 1 a day for 7 days. Oh the horror.
lisarista 4 points 1y ago
Right? Just makes it easier for Starbucks to track how much gets marked out. This is not a hardship. This is more than anything offered to anyone before the pandemic, everyone’s just upset they can’t get it away from their home store. It’s a situation where they’re (barely) restricting a food benefit they TOLD US was temporary.

You comparing it to pre covid doesn’t really make sense. Job openings are through the roof now and Starbucks pays crap compared to other places even McDonald’s. I mean even the White Castle employees down the road get paid 1-2 dollars more an hour than I do - including with the “raise” we just got which was just the one we get in December pushed two months early to make the company look good.

What incentive do I have to continue working at Starbucks if I don’t get free drinks? None!

I’ll be putting my two week notice in soon and I’m sure many others will as well 😌
