i’ve worked at a small store for almost a year. i graduated high school back in may and started going to a community college in my town. my sm has never really given me any issues but our turnover rate has been super high and i never understood why because i didn’t have any problems. when i started college, i told my sm i had to change my availability to nights and sunday mornings. i was only scheduled for tuesday nights and sunday morning which wasn’t much of an issue because that was 10 hours a week leaving time for me to complete my schoolwork. my tuesday nights have now been cut and i don’t know what to do because now i’m only getting 5 hours a week. i tried taking to my sm about it but i guess because they overhired i am just not getting my tuesdays anymore. they told me if i wanted more shifts i’ll have to pick up shifts through our group chat. but nobody has been calling off. i don’t know what to do.

This is weird because I’m in the opposite situation where I’m going to college and getting too many hours lol. You can probably tell her than you need at least 20 to be eligible for health insurance if you have that. If not just threaten her and put in your two week notice, if you’ve been there for a year she won’t want to let you go and be stuck with green beans so she might give you more hours.

thanks for the reply! it’s just a weird situation all around honestly. instead of scheduling me like i ask she just tells me to pick up other shifts that i literally can’t take because of school. it sucks. i hope your situation gets better though!
