We were only ever able to mark out one food item a day. (My store doesn’t care but that’s besides the point) with the new mark our system you can actually mark out multiple items a day as long as it doesn’t exceed 7 a week.

… you can always bring more food
zombiellama392 points1y ago
Literally what I was thinking haha

You do realize that many food establishments (most?) and nearly every other employer requires you to feed yourself, right? At best, most restaurants allow a hefty discount on food for employees while working.
It’s not hard to throw some granola bars and fruit in a bag to supplement your daily mark out.
islandmongibello4 points1y ago
Oh please. Don’t pretend they can’t afford to give us more than one food mark out a day. They squeeze as much work out of us as possible and we don’t see anything out if it but more squeezing.
_Pulltab_5 points1y ago
Where did I suggest they couldn’t afford it? Of course they can, as can pretty much any other major employer in the food service business. But they don’t generally do that because they are in business to make money and their goal is to match, or maybe just barely exceed, what other similar companies are doing to maintain employment levels. And if staffing drops off, they do a cost/benefit analysis to determine whether they should pay more or improve benefits to attract more employees.
I’m just saying that expecting an employer to be responsible for providing your with all of your daily sustenance isn’t reasonable given the capitalist society we live in.

Thanks for explaining capitalism to me. Totally new concept I knew nothing about.

Your pregnant ass can eat 7 things from the store today if you want, if it’s your first day worked. My question is, when was it ever more than one?
midg-ee6 points1y ago
You seem confused. The new policy is the one which allows you multiple markouts per shift. You get 7 markouts a week, only usable during scheduled shifts at your home store. Multiple markouts can be used per shift. This option allows more food.
Previously, you were only allowed one food markout per shift. So your saying that you normally took more than one means that you’ve been abusing policy.
Reminder that pre covid, it was 1 food markout per scheduled shift and 30% off when not working.
jpnotaru156 points1y ago
What? You can now markout 7 food items in a single day if you want (total 7 food items for the week). Before the change, you were still only allowed to markout one food item per day.
capsule_of_anxiety1-12 points1y ago
But what about for the rest of the week? It sucks.
dstnygn14 points1y ago
you werent able to get 2 foods in a day before without stealing from the company. now you literally can (as long as you dont get more than 7 per week). if you dont work everyday, which you shouldn’t, then there should be a few days per week that you could eat twice. you couldn’t do that before, so idk why you’re upset.
kcly933 points1y ago
Were you able to mark out two items a day before?
midg-ee2 points1y ago
Nope. One food markout per shift.
brattneybiscuit1 points1y ago
No
kcly933 points1y ago
Thats what I figured. I mean if I work 5 days a week, in the past I would get a total of 5 mark outs. Now i have 7 to work with
jpnotaru152 points1y ago
On the days that you are working, markout an extra item for the day(s) you don’t work and take it home. That way you can still get seven food items per week / one per day.
Alternatively, on the days that you work just markout more than once so you can have two meals during your shift (but then not on some days off).
Notlikeothercatmoms3 points1y ago
Even with the covid policy we’ve only ever been able to get one food item a day? Pack a lunch?
DaddyGray692 points1y ago
I mean I'm pretty sure a company that throws damn near a half a billion dollars in sales away a year setting up their gross fly infested pastry cases can probably afford keeping the COVID markouts as they were if not expand them further
islandmongibello0 points1y ago
They will do anything in their power to keep from compensating us fairly. My store throws enough food away a day than we could possibly mark out.
