Absolutely can’t stand when managers walk around saying “now you know not to discuss your pay with anyone, correct?”…this only serves the companies purpose. To the best of my knowledge it is not illegal or unethical in any way at all. My rate as a Shift in SoCal is $19.86.
SarcasticStark82 points1y ago
It IS illegal for them to tell you not to talk about it.
ryzzostar27 points1y ago
But my manager, every time I get a raise, tells me I cannot share my rate of pay with any one, that it's against Starbucks policy and causes problems. I just say sure boss, and go do whatever I feel like doing.
glitterijello29 points1y ago
And you should inform them that it's illegal. I haven't worked there in years so I can't say for sure what their actual policy's are, but I did find this article with this quote that I will link below.
"Starbucks set as policy that the corporation will not retaliate or discriminate towards employees who talk about salary, and will also be open to talking about any unexplained differences in pay." $1
ryzzostar3 points1y ago
They know it's illegal. They think we don't know it's illegal. They think we aren't all talking about it when they aren't there, ssvs included...they're dumb if they think we don't talk to each other. We spend a lot of time together keeping each other's backs, and they don't think we're close? Sheeeeeeit....
agoodveilsays31 points1y ago
Thank you for sharing- I’m really hoping a lot of partners will share and/or get a better understanding of their worth in the Siren’s eyes.
bizyguy7618 points1y ago
I think it depends on the environment in which you work…. My salary is available for anyone to see in my union so there’s really nothing to talk about. We all know.
But I think in your situation as a barista the biggest reason for partners not to know what other partners make is for purposes of management.
Though…. In the Pittsburgh area I’m shocked and appalled to hear what some of them make even as shift managers. For a company that throws around terms like fair trade and sustainability…. Starbucks needs to start applying those terms to their own employees.
piscescrybaby46 points1y ago
pittsburgh area 320XXXXX here! hope you’re doing well!
agoodveilsays16 points1y ago
Also- is your rate in your area a “livable wage”?
4shotsin5 points1y ago
Nope
Adeptness-Lucky1 points1y ago
No, I am in a “lucky” (crappy) housing situation that I don’t pay a mortgage or rent, but 90% of my take home pay goes to household bills, groceries, car, gas, etc. I save about 8% and have a very tight budget and little (~2%) spending money. To me this is not livable. My family and I go without a lot of things. It makes me sick that working full time at a company and giving my all isn’t enough to ever let me own a house or have spending money. I can never move to a healthier or safer place because I cannot afford rent. It’s frustrating.
Baristajf6 points1y ago
It’s against the law for them To tell you that you can’t discuss you pay
Wonderful-Ad-98164 points1y ago
im a shift in germany and make 12 USD💀
_dreamsofthedead_68 points1y ago
I've been a barista for 2 years in Florida and I make $12 an hour. It's not enough and I'm going to find a new job before I end up homeless.
midgethepuff20 points1y ago
I’ve worked at my store for 2.5 years, been a shift for one, making $15.24. All the baristas at my store make $12 like you. Michigan. It’s a fucking joke. I was excited when my pay went from $13.50-$15.24 but god damn this job sucks the life out of me. Put in my one month notice at the end of September and won’t even reconsider my stay unless pay gets bumped to $20+ per hour.
ryzzostar17 points1y ago
Also in Florida and I also only make $12 /hr...when I got the raise I feel that my hours got cut all of a sudden...I'm not making ends meet now...I really need to find a new job but I'm an opener and I can't find any other job that has similar hours so I can maintain my household and not require childcare in the afternoons...
firepaper6 points1y ago
There are massive labor cuts going on right now. I talked to my district manager about it and she could t give me a straight answer when I brought up that getting a 59 cent raise isn’t going to do many people good when they only work 5-11 hrs now. She replied that Starbucks is providing so many new benefits and when asked what they are she only could think of Lyra and headspace. I went as far as to say that she didn’t get a pay cut, she’s still making as much money and it’s great that we got raises but a lot of people need hours to live and we’re still making you guys money. “I can see the frustration, that’s why I’m here for you guys” bitch shut the fuck up
ryzzostar1 points1y ago
So childcare alone for my special needs child is over twice what I make so....
jpnotaru153 points1y ago
The raise only took effect 5 days ago and the pay from it won't be reflected until the paycheck two weeks from now. Are you saying your schedule this week/next week was suddenly cut compared to last week?
ryzzostar1 points1y ago
No, the raise I got back in June to meet the minimum Starbucks pay rate in my state. I'm assuming with the new raise this week I'll be scheduled even less in the close future.
ryzzostar1 points1y ago
I also didn't know about the new raise this week until now, I assumed we were talking about the one earlier this year, sorry.
ourgodwhofucks42 points1y ago
I’m in rural Oregon & my pay just got bumped from $13.25 to $14. I’m a two year partner and I’m making the same amount as a new hire.
agoodveilsays31 points1y ago
Whaaaaat the hell. The lack of appropriate compensation for sticking around through all the customer service abuse AND being an “EsSeNtIaL wOrKeR” the last 19+ months is just…. Gross.
4shotsin3 points1y ago
I'm in the same situation but making 12.00.😢
YorkTownBratty3 points1y ago
Same and I just got up to $12
elpayasoeso1136 points1y ago
Partner as in working for the company right? If so $19 is way too low for 15 years
agoodveilsays24 points1y ago
Yep! To all of that.
RyusuiJL32 points1y ago
Good lord. I mean, I know you're tenured over a decade, but it makes me wonder what you started at, and what new partners in your area are starting at now.
We have the absolute highest cost of living and rent in the country: https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/cost-of-living-index-by-state https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/average-rent-by-state For crying out loud, we're nearly 3 times the cost of the lowest state, and even almost double the average cost. We're even 1/4 higher than the next lowest state. And yet, from what I've seen around here, we have one of, if not the lowest pay.
I'm seriously starting to get annoyed by this. I don't quite get how companies justify this. It is the norm - not the exception - that many families out here have household heads that work 2 or even 3 jobs just to make it.
I'm a new SSV and making $16.48.
agoodveilsays26 points1y ago
THIS. Is why I wanted to ask on a public platform.
RyusuiJL14 points1y ago
I agree with you. I have nothing to hide. And I'm glad that you feel the same. I celebrate your win, but loathe the company for such a skewed pay scale.
agoodveilsays12 points1y ago
I actually don’t think it’s a win… I live alone and struggle. Again, reason for visibility.
RyusuiJL5 points1y ago
Good point. My girlfriend and I live together, so it's definitely easier. If I was on my own, though, I'd pretty much be making just enough to have a place to live and eat modestly. Even if I was making your rate. Probably not even any spending money.
Loolander3 points1y ago
Are you a barista or a supervisor?
agoodveilsays3 points1y ago
Barista but with time as SM and SSV
agoodveilsays3 points1y ago
Depends on location for rates, I didn’t even get the full % raise cuz I hit the local cap on barista pay…. Basically got like 30 cent increase.
Loolander2 points1y ago
Damn that's awesome as a baristas pay. New hires are getting 15 something, I think you're making more than new shifts too. Which honestly I'm surprised and happy about. 2006 partner should be making significantly more even as a barista.
midgethepuff4 points1y ago
I’m a 1+ year SSV and I make $15.24 🙃
RyusuiJL2 points1y ago
Yikes. What area do you live in?
midgethepuff2 points1y ago
Michigan
strawberrygrly22 points1y ago
1.5 years in texas and i got bumped up to $12… not sure how i feel
Animuthrowawayplz3 points1y ago
3.5 years here in Texas (Houston area) and I got a sweet $12.12/hr. Lol. It's a nice raise from $10.98, but comparing the pay rate from cities with around the same cost of living is sad.
edgymicah16 points1y ago
went from 14.50 to 15.50 in norcal. i guess i can't complain since i've only been working here 4 months. it's beyond shitty that you're 10+ years in and they haven't raised your pay a lot more.
AsmaClementine6 points1y ago
Try being a 2 year partner in the same area with the same pay rate. :/
hautmess7 points1y ago
I’m in SoCal making the same. I’ve been a partner for a year and 8 months. I didn’t even realize new partners/fresh beans were getting the same raise/pay, it’s bullshit tbh.
pink_haired_bitch3 points1y ago
I’ve been here for a year, I just trained someone and their rate is the same as mine. Gotta love that $50 bonus though for training someone (so Cal)
sIowrain2 points1y ago
NorCal also, only been here for just over a year & with all the stuff we have to deal with? Job searching as we speak
edgymicah1 points1y ago
can't lie i wanted to make it to a year but i feel the same- i'm fighting off the urge to put in my 2 weeks as we speak. good luck to you in the hunt, lmk if you find anything i should look into too 😅
agoodveilsays16 points1y ago
*edit/add*… my current position is barista.
drinkliquidclocks12 points1y ago
I work at a licensed store so it doesn't count but I still wanna complain- 3 years in, I'm a shift lead and only make $11/hr 🥴 Iowa
miniinovaa2 points1y ago
WHACK! A “real” Starbucks would pay you more, why not go there?
drinkliquidclocks4 points1y ago
I love my cafe and im a full time shift lead, I'm scared I would end up making less for extra work at a real bux. Plus to the stores in my town start at almost the same :/
And my store is slow with no drive through so it's less stressful. Would love to switch to Starbucks someday, though
pinkshadedgirafe2 points1y ago
There might not be any options. I moved to a new state, and the nearest corporate store is a hour and a half away. But near me are Tarbucks, Frybucks, Safebucks X2, Milbucks.... But no corp
PauseAccording2012 points1y ago
I got hired on as an SSV, about 3 months ago and I make $23.03 in MA. I’m pretty sure I’m the highest paid supervisor in my store. I know wages can vary by state and experience but I see some of your wages and my heart hurts for you. We deal with so much bullshit. It should be more even across the board
mstrandquist811 points1y ago
This is the most infuriating answer to me. (Obviously not your fault, you get paid what you’re owed!) A 14 year shift supervisor here with 4 years sm experience and I make less. 😬😬
PauseAccording203 points1y ago
That’s insane!! You should definitely be getting more than $14 imo im so sorry
mstrandquist84 points1y ago
Omg I am a 14 year partner! I make $22. Lol
PauseAccording204 points1y ago
OH OMG I THOUGHT YOU MEANT 14 an hour I almost died for you
4shotsin5 points1y ago
You might be the highest paid Starbucks person in the world.
-beam-me-up-4 points1y ago
How long have you worked at sbux?
PauseAccording203 points1y ago
3 months
-beam-me-up-1 points1y ago
Well dang I think I know where I'm moving next
Riversbewild10 points1y ago
3 year barista, $12.50. My last two raises were thanks to Illinois minimum wage increases.
RyusuiJL8 points1y ago
12.50 after 3 YEARS??? WTF???
vandilor1 points1y ago
that sucks, i’m a recent hire, started at 12. plus my state still uses federal minimum wage so to start about 5 bucks higher. you are being done dirty
marilynmansonsbitch9 points1y ago
$16.27 - barista in San Diego for 2.5 years
VirtualEntrepreneur86 points1y ago
THE GENERAL WORK STRIKE IS HAPPENING OCTOBER 15TH AND IS CALLING FOR A $15 NATIONWIDE MINIMUM WAGE. STARBUCKS CAN AFFORD TO PAY YOU WHAT YOU DESERVE. HIT THEM WHERE IT HURTS. YOU DESERVE TO AFFORD LIVING COSTS!!!!!!!!
beepbeep-amsheep6 points1y ago
2 year barista, brought to $15.95 when all my other baristas who are less than 1 year in are at about $15.50
paintthatface6 points1y ago
$20.65 - 4 year shift in California
Short-Suit-33745 points1y ago
I'm a Seattle partner at a stupid busy drive thu and cafe. $17.35hr
mulderufo135 points1y ago
12.05 😭😭😭
Seaweedgreedy5 points1y ago
Northern Illinois $14.24/hr😐
KnightlyStars4 points1y ago
I'm a barista in rural Texas and I was at 10.45 and now I make 12.00. Im a two year Partner and im making the same amount as a new hire. What makes it worse is that I was in Austin making 11, then I became a shift and was making 14.97, but I had to move so I transferred. My new SM told me I wouldn't be a shift, I'd be a barista, but I'd still be getting more than a normal barista because of my experience. That didn't happen and I'm working on my resume and am about to start sending it out.
Malevolent_barnacle4 points1y ago
FL SSV, 9 year partner. New rate is $16.18, same as the SSV that started last month 🙃
sugartea634 points1y ago
Im a barista in Switzerland. I make 22chf. Never had a pay raise and have been there for a year
idontknowmerp4 points1y ago
I don’t know if I’m being silly but where can you find your pay rate?
agoodveilsays10 points1y ago
Ohmahgahd… that’s not silly for you at all, but it sure paints a picture of how inept and incompetent your manager is.
Go to here: https://mypartnerinfo-ext.starbucks.com/partnerportal
idontknowmerp5 points1y ago
Oh wait I looked on there but couldn’t find it!!
True my old manager did get demoted so… new one probs figured I already knew
agoodveilsays3 points1y ago
Once you log in, just click on pay statements
Also- partner number is just the number for this login… no “US” before the number
idontknowmerp1 points1y ago
Yes and I still can’t find it!! I’m in HI so it might just be unavailable on my partner info or something but I’ll check on the store computer tmrw!
4shotsin3 points1y ago
I just got a raise to 12.00 OCT 4, I think? Because I thought being there for 2 years, I would get an extra 5%. Basically, I have to wait until I get my check to know for sure. They have also raised starting pay to 12.00, so basically I will get the same pay as a green bean. I'm salty about it.
ALSX33 points1y ago
~6 months in, NYC metro, starting was $15.77, just got bumped to ~~$16.24~~ $16.57.
Annoyingly, a partner hired less than a month ago told me yesterday that his rate with the raise is $16.29, and my SM refuses to explain how that’s fair because “you shouldn’t tell each other your pay rates.” Fuck that attitude.
Edit: My SM came back to me a little bit ago and told me that she read the wrong number when she gave me my raise information, my actual new rate is $16.57.
agoodveilsays2 points1y ago
For sure fuck that. That mentality of not sharing your rates only benefits the company and does nothing to provide visibility and fairness among partners.
problematicbirds3 points1y ago
two year barista currently in massachusetts, i think the recent raise put me at $16.40. i was also recently told by my DM that my store base pay is higher because of the sheer number of violent incidents that happen in our store.
agoodveilsays3 points1y ago
Cool, yeah… $16 an hour sounds totally appropriate for dealing with violent incidents. (Not)
eyelinertothestars3 points1y ago
It’s my 3rd day today. I get minimum wage which is $15.20 (approx $12.18 USD) Edit: I’m in British Columbia, Canada
just_pig3on3 points1y ago
I'm a barista of..I think 4 months now in michigan. I got hirednin at $10.50 ish but almost immediately got that company wide raise and get $12. I'm not sure how much I am getting right now after the benefits removal n all that but I think I'll find out after my next check. I'm lucky enough that I'm a minor and still live with my parents so I don't have to worry about if it's a livable wage or not but I feel like for the high stress of the job it isn't that much. Especially for those who do own houses and have families to feed and such.
mstrandquist83 points1y ago
Chicagoland area 14 year partner (previous sm) Shift supervisor $22.86 And I had to fight for it.
[deleted] [OP]2 points1y ago
[deleted]
mstrandquist83 points1y ago
Yeah, Starbucks does not care about tenured partners even a little bit. It’s beyond frustrating.
VictorianLibra221 points1y ago
How did you convince your DM (or SM) to give you that rate? How exactly did you fight for it, if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve known partners who attempted to fight for better pay/raise and were simply told no 😕
mstrandquist82 points1y ago
So I called prc and business and ethics. 🤷🏻♀️
mstrandquist82 points1y ago
It’s considered max pay and when I stepped down from sm I was guaranteed max pay. But over the years my pay has not kept up with max (which I was promised and always told I was receiving.) so when my new SM actually showed be base and max rates I realized I was making over $2 less than max. 🤬🤬🤬
VictorianLibra222 points1y ago
Oh got it. Thanks for explaining. Good for you for noticing and fighting for it!
Meduka__3 points1y ago
In Ohio (base was 10/hr) I was making 11/hr. Base pay was bumped to 12/hr and that's what I get currently. Good bye extra dollar an hour 🙃 at least it's higher than what it was
Edit: I've been working for starbucks for about 4 years (2 at Target and 2 at my current store)
drew-b3 points1y ago
$17.02 - 2.5yr Barista in NY
ThatOtherGuyTPM3 points1y ago
Shift in St. Louis, been here 4 years, up to $15.39/hr now.
scarred_beauty1 points1y ago
Same, 3 yrs, and same.
Accomplished_Chef_142 points1y ago
We have an open labor board case against our store for saying that we aren’t allowed to discuss money and I encourage anyone who hears that from a superior to do the same because it’s really shady that almost every store I’ve worked has tried to do that and then they pretend that they didn’t know they couldn’t say that when confronted. Anyways I’m making 21.86 and hour as a shift supervisor in Los Angeles
doobiewave2 points1y ago
As a 3+ year partner (according to differentiation) SSV in Louisiana I’m now making $15.39/hour. I also give a solid portion of what I make towards retirement..I don’t have enough to live off of after bills. Surviving on $100 for two weeks is infeasible.
Emotional_Wasabi21192 points1y ago
Were they supposed to talk to us and tell us we got a raise or how would I know if I got a raise or not?
catarinavanilla2 points1y ago
I’m a supervisor in Minneapolis. I went from $18.97 to $20.07 as of October 4. For reference, when I started as a beanie-greenie in August ‘17, I made $11.55. I hate to say it, but they did me good (however it’s still not totally secure income in a city, esp. when I’m paying off student loans and saving to buy a house and start a family in the next couple years). I pray for the suburban stores bc y’all get f***ed when it comes to wages.
ovokft2 points1y ago
4 year partner this past March, SSV now making 15.39. My pay right before this was 12.83- and before that it was literally 11.16. So I’ve gotten a $4+ raise in a year- lol and could still make this much if I applied at target or most other retailers tomorrow
Edit: I’m in San Antonio Texas. Our market is considered the lowest on the scale of cost of living I guess
catatoniccatalyst2 points1y ago
WA SSV for 7 months, partner for 3+years. $24.08.
agoodveilsays1 points1y ago
This is the best/most appropriate rate I’ve seen on here… but I guess that depends on your local cost of living as well. Too many partners making well below $15 an hour.
catatoniccatalyst2 points1y ago
I definitely don’t complain just because I know it’s better than most partners’ pay, but I know my ASM and I make the same rate, and they don’t get tips so they basically took a pay cut for a promotion. I’m right in SEA where minimum is going up to close to $17, and the cost of living is insane. I used to make $22, and that was hardly enough to pay all my bills and that was with 40 hours every week.
Venussayhi2 points1y ago
I work $12 an hour and is soon about to be homeless because I can no longer afford rent plus I don’t have a enough for my bipolar medication either. I love being a Starbucks partner but ugh
erraskot2 points1y ago
Just got upped to 15.75. I’ve been working for about 4 months or so as a barista in Central Florida
Dazzling_Cut_68622 points1y ago
As a shift in Colorado, I’m now at 17.66.
toastedsnugglemuffin2 points1y ago
SSV in central new York. Was 19.69 starting and now I'm 20.67
starryeyes62 points1y ago
Tennessee barista, recently moved to $12 right before the raise because our store manager went to our DM and stood for us … now nearly all of us make $12. I hate breaking my back for a company that doesn’t pay me enough to not live paycheck to paycheck.
codeyumi2 points1y ago
I’m a ssv in Canada Ontario and after our pay raise here in the summer I made 19.64 an hour. Been a partner for almost 5 years (233).
the-troijan-horse2 points1y ago
1.5 years in total, about 5 months as a SSV in Utah and my new rate is $16/hr. The newer shifts are getting $15.24/hr and the shift who's been with Starbucks for years is somehow only getting $0.15 more than me - she's fighting for more and I fully support her.
_book_queen1 points1y ago
What part of uTah? I live in Weber county making $15.24. I’ve been a shift about a year and a half, partner for 3 and a half

I work in Philly and have been with the company 2 years, I’m supposed to make $16.75 after the new raise HOWEVER our raises haven’t been instated yet….
Ashemodragon2 points1y ago
Franchise in the UK: we just got a pay rise to bring us to £9.50 an hour as we have a petrol station across the way from us (also owned by the franchise). SSVs just went up to £10 per hour. A whole 45p extra for baristas, 50p more for SSVs
piIIowtalk2 points1y ago
$15.44 barista FL been there about 6 or 7 months
Kaylushhh2 points1y ago
Shift in NJ 19.23. 9 year partner, 7 as a shift.
Mnmpringles1 points1y ago
Been a barista a little over two years, I’m now getting paid $12.70 (just got that 2 dollar raise last week but it hasn’t taken effect yet). It sucks because the area I’m in, it’s super expensive to live here. I’m currently living with my parents to try and save to move to a cheaper town but damn it’s really hard to save up any reasonable amount because most places around me cost 800-1,000 for a studio apartment
femalehomosapien181 points1y ago
Southern California. 3 year partner. Went from $15.15 to $15.91 . 2 years an SSV but demoted to barista for mental Health reasons.
queenlehane1 points1y ago
I'm a barista in Phoenix and have been with the company only 8 months. I'm making $13.65/hr :( Better than my last job but not really livable if I also want to save money
madamemonday1 points1y ago
Barista in Nashville, TN, working for just over a year and I'm now making $15 at my store. Was making $13.

my manager makes pay no secret and i love it, i was in the room during the corporate meeting and when they told him about the raise he turned around in his chair and screamed at me that my pay is going from 11 to 14 an hour, and then made an announcement in our groupchat that baristas are now at $14/hr , shift supervisors at $17.79/hr and if you’ve been working there for 3 years or more than you get 1% more as well
lilkiosk1 points1y ago
1.25 years in and I make $12 and no it’s not livable :)

guachummus1 points1y ago
I’m 270xxxx shift in Raleigh, NC. Pay just went up from $13.34 to $15.25. Couldn’t afford rent then, still can’t afford it now. I have multiple partners literally on food stamps because we live in the capital of the state and make the rest as the entire rest of the state where rent is half as much 🥰 planning on leaving in February

Go to here: https://mypartnerinfo-ext.starbucks.com/partnerportal(bD1lbiZjPTcwMA==)/default.htm Works best on a computer, not your phone… login using your partner number only (not US and then number) and then click on pay statements… your first paycheck after the raise kicks in will have your rate at the top.

I’m a 285 and about to turn 2yrs on the coming January 6th. I started at 9.50 and then got a raise last October to 10.45 or so. With the new pay rate, barista will be paid 14$/hr and SSV 17$/hr. Btw I’m in Austin, TX. I’m kinda confused with new pay rate, cause does that mean my new pay rate for the coming paycheck will be 14$/hr or higher than that ?
agoodveilsays3 points1y ago
Oof. Your manager was supposed to have one on one conversations with every single partner weeks ago to go over the raise and tell you what your new rate will be. But, yes… whatever your new rate is will be reflected on the next paycheck (new rates kicked in this week)
dkr18292 points1y ago
Welp I don’t see that would happen. Cause she’s temporary SM and still in training to be a SM and move to her store after training at ours. When she first come, there’s no introducing via Zoom call or 1 on 1 to each partner as she said. Now it’s been 3 months and we all hate her. Cause she will always fucked up every Thursday and Friday night shift with only 2 people closing :) We did talked to her a lot abt that and she said sorry, but then it keeps happen every week cause she just copy and paste again.

miniinovaa1 points1y ago
I’ve been with the company for 4 years (one year break in between) and I make about $12 🙃 I did move from California to Virginia so minimum wage did lower too. There I made $15

I live in central illinois. I’m a shift and I’ve been with Starbucks for almost two years, a shift for about five months. I make $15.88, barista base pay at my store is $12.50.

Colorado, coming up on 4 years in a couple weeks, 9 months as an SSV. I'm at $17.26 now

2 year florida partner here. I get $12 an hour
distraughtcato1 points1y ago
Been working for a few months, living in Eastern WA, $14.60
Nikkibbi1 points1y ago
1 1/2 year partner. Started as a barista at $10, promoted to a SSV at $12.70. New pay raise puts me just over $15. Definitely not enough to survive on in Utah.

I used to make 15.52 in Montgomery County MD now in nondescript North Carolina I make 10.00 on the dot and was very disappointed when I transferred and saw my new payrate. Like I worked harder and got better at my job only to be paid less and work harder than I did at my previous store.
nervousextrovert1 points1y ago
I’m a 278. Left for a year currently back now for extra pocket money. Didn’t get the raise because I left. Still making $12 an hour. Fort Myers, FL.
LackOfColor_1 points1y ago
Portland metro area, rehired in 2017, been a shift ever since and same rate. I think (because people do tend to talk) the new hires are usually the same or right below. So even though you’ve been there for 15 years, it’s still the same.
wtchtrsh1 points1y ago
I have been working for Starbucks since 2007 with a 2 year break, Portland metro as well. Rehire date was 2013, and been a shift since 2015. My new wage is 19.70.
LackOfColor_1 points1y ago
So ridiculous. More than I was making in California, though. I also have asked for raises and they say “ you can’t make more than our most tenured partner” who used to be an SM so… that means they got dropped to a similar wage as well when demoting to supervisor of that makes sense.
Also is your name witch trash??? Because I love it

Tenured SSV in MD, $16.65

$16.28 in chicago after 5 months as a partner
joviante1 points1y ago
14$ in my district is now starting pay but anyone making below that got a raise. so partners of 20 years are making the same as new hires
designated-grapes1 points1y ago
$17.50 ish forgot the exact amount. Almost two year Partner. Los Angeles County. Barista pay. No where near livable wage but luckily, my husband has a decent paying job so I can work part time while I do ASU full-time +.
rubixxcube001 points1y ago
Sorry if this is a silly question — I’m considering applying for a position in the SGV area of CA for health insurance and ASU. Do you get health benefits working part time? Does SB pay for ASU while you’re part time?
Edit — meant SGV, not SVG
designated-grapes3 points1y ago
You only need to average 20 hr/week for health insurance and ASU! :) They pay your ASU tuition upfront, except for fees and books which haven't been bad, and I pay $60/paycheck for my health insurance which covers what I need.
rubixxcube001 points1y ago
That’s awesome! How long do you have to be employed before you can start receiving those benefits?
designated-grapes1 points1y ago
I believe you have to average 20/week for three months before being eligible. You can apply to ASU before then just so you can get the paperwork out of the way but you won't start until the beginning of the first semester after you become eligible.
My application process was drawn out because my high school messed up on my transcript 🙄 so I'm sure my process is not the norm.

LS in North Texas, one of three Starbucks locations and I get paid $10.85 as a Team Lead. Coming up on 19 months with the grocery store, but just 7 months with Starbucks. The only thing getting me through this is getting paid weekly.

$17.35 as a barista in Los Angeles, about 1.5 years in
haydensidun1 points1y ago
I’m a Bay Area barista (if it matters, my one-year is in 2 weeks) and I believe my current rate is $15, but I don’t know for sure
agoodveilsays13 points1y ago
The fact that you aren’t even sure what you make is a big fucking fail for starbucks. Every single partner was supposed to have 15-30 minutes DEDICATED and SCHEDULED time with either the store manager or the assistant store manager in a window of time determined by corporate and prior to the pay raises that roll out THIS WEEK. Starbucks invested NON COVERAGE labor hours (time paid off the floor) for each store leader to make this happen. If you are a corporate partner and did not get this one on one conversation, you should be deeply troubled about the state of the store you are currently employed.
the-troijan-horse2 points1y ago
THIS My store didn't have the discussion either, as far as I'm aware. My fellow shifts and I were barely told a little over a week ago, basically in passing. And I don't think any of the baristas have been spoken to. *I* told them the base pay was going up to $12/hr.
4shotsin1 points1y ago
Now I'm a two year barista making same as new hires.
4shotsin1 points1y ago
Nope. I knew we were suppose to have these, but we never did.

All I know is that I started at $13.02 and that was in October 2020. Since then I’ve been told by various people, including both managers I’ve had, that barista wages are $13.52, $14.50, $15.00, $16.50, etc. Ever since my first couple of months ended I have never been sure about what I make.
I think one of the worst parts about Starbucks is not receiving a physical paystub. At my old job I received a physical paystub on paper sealed in an envelope and every time it told me exactly how much I made, how many hours I worked, how much was taken out for payroll taxes, and all that. At Starbucks it’s been an entire *year* and until scrolling through the comments of this post I’ve had no idea how to look at my paystub.
One of many reasons why I hate working for a corporation, especially one as big as Starbucks.
agoodveilsays3 points1y ago
Dear, Partner- go here for all your pay rate and pay stub wishes:
Ok so I suck at math and it’s midnight so my calculations are probably off, but from what I’ve gathered I was paid $14.43/hour in my last paycheck and $15.12/hour in the paycheck before that
…? What?
