TIPS FOR NEW BARISTAS 📣 (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by owocinematic
You’ve got this!! 💕 I started at Starbucks CLUELESS. I have past job experience but this was all new to me! So, here are some things I’ve learned and some tips!

> If you aren’t quick at making drinks, that’s okay. We all start somewhere and before you know it, making drinks will come easy for you! People will ask for the most popular drinks over and over so, you’ll learn those first and it’ll make everything else SO much easier.
Currently (10/8/21) These are the most popular:
* Caramel/Apple Crisp Macchiatos
* White Mocha
* ALL frapps but top 3 are the Mocha Cookie Crumble, Caramel Ribbon Crunch and Caramel frapps
* Pumpkin Spice Latte
* Shaken Espressos

> Frapps are all basically made the same way. Some just require frap roast or none at all, each one uses different syrups but they’re mostly common sense. Caramel frapp? Caramel Syrup! Mocha frapp? Mocha Syrup! Pumpkin Spice frapp? Pumpkin Spice! You’ll get it!

> Hot Bar is the hardest to learn, but it becomes second hand nature! Make sure you get Macchiatos, Lattes, and White Mocha learned first. Those are definitely the top three.

> Cold Bar is my favorite! You’ll make frapps, PINK drinks, DRGN, and Refreshers! Refreshers have cup lines that explain what ad how much is needed to make them.

> Quick Tips: Don’t forget to date dot! Make sure you keep an eye on what you’re about to run out of. Make sure you’re keeping everything washed and cleaned.

> https://sbuxdates.com is GREAT for date dots and recipes!!

> When I started, my boss kept a list of dates for EVERYTHING on the inside of our cabinets! I have a photo of this list if you’d like! Just lmk!

> I struggled with learning drink codes the most, but I kept a list of the most common ones on a sticky note that I laminated with clear tape in my apron! You can also do this for the # of syrup/shots go into each hot/cold cup size. I have a photo of the one I use if you’d like!

> You’re gonna be working with a group of coworkers behind the counter. Make friends with these people and you’ll have the GREATEST shifts! I promise you that!

Thank you for this. I got done with my training today. And start officially Tuesday!! I worked at Dunkin before but this is a whole new ballpark. Everything is sooo different. I have a mini notebook which I jotted down tons and tons of notes.

Great post! Here's a couple of Reddit links to add for learning and resources:

(Be sure to scroll down to the OP's link to their Google Drive, though. The infographic there was updated to correct a few errors. Don't use the one uploaded to Reddit.)
