It’s normal. New people tend to get overwhelmed on bar. If it’s busy the whole time they’re going to put their “aces in their places” so to speak. Ask for some bar time when it’s slower. But I wouldn’t expect to be on bar right off the bat.

yeah it’s totally normal but once they see your potential on bar they’ll never take you off. i was on window for my first month until i kept asking to bar during peak and i just got really good

when i was new i was always put on dtr, front register, or food. they had me expedite once and ig i was good at it so they let me do dto and dtr if it was needed. i’m two months in and they now let me bar much more frequently.

It is kind of odd to me they left you there for your ENTIRE shift. The short answer is it is unique to each SSV. Although with that said every shift at my store tries there best to cycle people to different positions, so I think it is uncommon for a shift to not move you around. I have heard at some franchise stores (stores inside other businesses *you won't have partner numbers if you work in a franchise store*) they keep you in the same spot the entire shift.
You being new might definitely be a factor especially depending on the day part. We never put new people on bar during peak and with how our store is staffed if you can not be put on bar in the morning you are either DTO or DTR. If this is the first time this has happened definitely a fluke!

gonna keep happening until you say something about it and if they cant give you more practice you should look into transferring stores i mean it sounds like u want to be there for the drink making
