Has anyone else had trouble with the Mastrenas YEETING steam pitchers?? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Had 4 steaming pitchers get thrown today while steaming. Like the wand just decided to chuck it across the room. I successfully dodged 3 of them before falling victim to a venti steam pitcher for a PSL.

Ugh. That is terrifying! Haha I haven't had problems with them yeeting pitchers but I've had so many problems with the Mastrena 2s. The shots pour S L O W L Y no matter how many times we calibrate them. They cancel shots at random times too. So fun during peak and when our shifts are breathing down our necks about time. 🙃🙃🙃

I’m actually not sure what version our machines are. I’ve been told they’re the old ones. We aren’t allowed to use the single or triple buttons because “they’re prone to breaking the machine.”

You have the mastrena 1 machines then. Honestly my best tip is to make sure the steam wand is angled toward the machine and the steam pitcher is tucked in as close to the machine as you can get it. Never walk away when steaming heavy cream or half and half (I’ve been hit by yeeted pitchers while steaming those) and be cautious when steaming venti or more milk. If you’re still experiencing spontaneous steaming pitcher attacks after correcting those things then someone needs to call those machines in

Thanks for your comment. Our first attack was steamed heavy cream so we just blamed it on that, but then it happened 3 other times so we just resolved ourselves to babysitting the machines

Godspeed fellow coffee artist. I transferred a while back to a store with the new machines and as much as I complain about them I don’t miss the old ones. I hope you get an upgrade soon
