unsure what to do (self.starbucksbaristas)

hi all! i’ve really loved working at starbucks for the last year and a half, mainly at my old store. i’m just not enjoying this new store so far and it feels like work whereas my old store didnt. i wouldn’t be able to work at my store in my hometown on school breaks which would suck because id love and miss them all but…

a few shifts ago one of my ssvs said something to me in a way that was extremely triggering and now every time i work i have panic attacks and/or cry. i’m talking like it triggered out some dissociative symptoms for me. i went home and had a nightlong breakdown. it wasn’t the shifts fault, i’m really sensitive to a lot of things, she just managed to get right at one of my triggers without knowing. but now i’m just lost as to what to do. i really want to quit. i’d miss it so much but i just don’t think i can handle it mentally anymore.

any advice or support would be helpful. i think this post is worded confusingly but i’m still in a bad spot mentally.

I went through the same thing transferring in august. It is so hard because you know what to do but every store is a little different which may cause you to feel dumb. I have only been w starbs since may, but I was so close with everyone at my old store.

My advice: ask questions. Say “how do WE do this here?” I also had issues with a ssv at first, but it just turned out she’s a bitch to most ppl at first, and now she’s pretty nice to me.

You got it. I know it’s hard, but you belong there abd don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Screaming in the freezer also helps.

You need to talk to someone at your store either the manager or a trusted supervisor. Especially if this has resulted in you wanting to quit. It’s never fun to cry at work or to have a panic attack. I’ve experienced both.
