Let's talk...Partner to Partner. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by RocketGirl425
I don't care who this offends but this is mostly geared towards the greenbeans / new hires starting up... DON'T go to another store, especially if you can see it's super busy and short staffed with a line out the door, and ORDER SOME OUTRAGEOUS TIKTOK drink where the lone person on register has to use "ask me" numerous times to complete your order in turn slowing up flow of the already busy af store!!! Order / experiment with those crazy 💩 drinks in your own store. I'm calling out the newbies because it's been my experience with them as of late and it's grinding my gears! Have some consideration 💯

This is why custom drinks ruined the company

Back when I started with Starbucks, you could ask and the barrista would do what they could do make your perfect drink, using experience and knowledge like a bartender

It is now the equivalent of a subway. Can't even remember the last time I got a drink there even after almost 10 years with the company.

I actually think this is the perfect analogy.

bruh an old partner ordered a frap with, i shit u not, 10 modifications and THEN tried to get it for free saying they used to be a partner…like why are people like this!
moon_light523 3 points 1y ago
is it terrible that ik an old partner that would do something like that? she’s also unnecessarily rude lol
kitty_cat49 3 points 1y ago
im so sorry that u had to go through that!! i feel like recently, well at least at my store, our newer partners have been complete shit as far as attitude and compassion goes. we have a couple of partners at our store that are either very rude or creepy. our ssv is VERY creepy with some of our partners that are women.
moon_light523 3 points 1y ago
oh my gosh that’s really concerning. an ssv shouldnt act that way, and it makes me sick that it happens so often.

i’ve also noticed an attitude with newer partners. we have quite a few who would almost refuse to be coached at all. I even had one tell me that i’m new (????) bc I haven’t been with the company for more than a year. that one really got me bc he tried to justify it bc other people have been there longer, but despite that i’m a trainer and might become an ssv soon lol. (I had also trained him lol)
kitty_cat49 3 points 1y ago
now how the hell is he going to say you are new when YOU trained him?? the math aint mathing chile. they offered me a trainer position but i turned it down bc of how weird and grimy my store can be. it is a shame how awful some stores have become

If Im not making it myself I keep simple, under 3 mods:

* Swap for nondairy milk
* blonde shots
* maybe add an extra shot

I won't make another barista make obscene drinks for me.
thefoolwitch 35 points 1y ago
The weirdest thing is that I’ve been getting tons of partners doing this, but they’re all more seasoned partners!! And they don’t even get their IDs out until I ask them to. It annoys the absolute shit out of me. Like not only are you ordering three drinks with insane customizations, but then you slow down the line even more by waiting to get out the ID you SHOULD KNOW you need to have ready. Oh my god.
RocketGirl425 [OP] 15 points 1y ago
Ohhhmgeee! YES! My fave is when they look OFFENDED because you ask them for the ID!! C'mon guys stop making our jobs harder than they have to be considering you're one of us and know what the deal is! Do better!!!
Kivic 14 points 1y ago
If it helps as to why the ID thing happens, I haven’t been IDed one time since using my partner discount at any store I’ve been to. I can see why partners aren’t use to being asked for one.
cody_1849 3 points 1y ago
I think in the over 6 years I’ve worked for SBUX, I’ve been asked once for my ID.
hmmyeahrightokaythen 2 points 1y ago
This makes sense. My store in particular has been asking since getting dogged for not IDing in the past and letting a bunch of phonies use other people’s numbers… of course the occasional green bean will let it slide, *but* it’s still no excuse imo for one 320 partner from another store who angrily came back inside the store after retrieving her ID from her car and exclaiming “this is SO rude” and then basically had a fit about not getting her drink/food for free 🙄
moon_light523 2 points 1y ago
that’s so gross that she acted that way. people should know when rules change/what the rules are and not throw a fit cause they in on inconvenience you
coffeesparklez 1 points 1y ago
That's because it's against policy to ask for ID. You should check their partner card, which is on their phone and most likely how they pay. You only show ID if you don't have your partner card.

We use preferred names in the system. My name isn't on my government ID.
jackissosick 10 points 1y ago
I worked at Starbucks for 4 years and never had anyone ask for my partner ID and never asked anyone for theirs. It isn't a thing that managers care about in a lot of locations

I miss it when my simple latte with no syrups was the shit.
muhkiim 4 points 1y ago
Tbf I don't like getting plain lattes from Starbucks or Dunkin. It just doesn't taste that good. I usually go to a small business/local coffee shop because it tastes wayyy better.
NotBuilt2Behave 7 points 1y ago
I agree, if there’s more than 4-5 steps to your drink...I don’t want to make it...that’s for anyone though, but especially for other partners...

Would you want to get that order during peak? Don’t do it to someone else man
ryannmm5 6 points 1y ago
i’m a green bean only been with my store for about 3-4 months & it drives me NUTS when people do this lol. some of my fellow coworkers have even done it. the craziest thing i’ll get at another store is a pink drink with no inclusions, light ice, and vsc on top. and that’s only when i know people that are working at the time lol and never in a rush. usually i get that or a venti vanilla bean with caramel drizzle☺️ people are so inconsiderate lmfao. be a decent human bro
soulsearxhing 5 points 1y ago
I make myself tik tok drinks when the store is dead and we have nothing else to do.
ElectricalScience8 4 points 1y ago
i’ve been adding vanilla sweet cream foam on my brown sugar shaken espressos lately and i feel sooo bad 😭 bc people add foam on literally everything so i know how annoying it is
briannuzzi 3 points 1y ago
especially when they order like 5 drinks and 7 food items at drive thru with 5 friends in the car. like go do that shit at your own store!
[deleted] 3 points 1y ago
“ I want a surprise me drink ! “
Blended water it is. Cracks me up every time. Obviously I’ll have a real surprise me drink to follow that up with but somehow this post reminds me of these situations.
_pkthunder 3 points 1y ago
Honestly, Starbucks needs to get rid of custom drinks.

Literally only allow milk substitutions, number of shots (up to 5 only), and THATS IT!!!!

CUSTOM DRINKS SHOULD BE A PARTNER PERK, IM SAYING IT!
[deleted] 3 points 1y ago
I literally limit myself to two modifications per drink when I order. Idc if I want it soy, blonde, sugar free, and extra hot. That’s just asking too much 😭
sandmand13 3 points 1y ago
I worked at a busy store so I got used to just cold brew maybe Non dairy because I didn't want to wait and I feel bad.
Tha_jphil 2 points 1y ago
Hot take, I really don’t mind crazy custom drinks all that much as long as you’re considerate and kind, and understand that I might take my time on it. The bar is really low these days lol
