My manager is telling me I can’t cash out my vacation time. Is there not a way to cash out my vacation time without taking an actual vacation? Because the odds of my boss even giving me time off for a vacation are slim to none.

You can, as long it doesn’t exceed 40 hours in total with time worked… For example: you have 60 hours PTO… you work 25 hours this week and want to use your PTO.. you can use up to 15 of your 60 and that will get you to 40 hours total for this week on your paycheck. And say you work 30 next week, so you can use 10 PTO to get your total hours paid to 40 again. You would now have 35 hours of PTO left. You do not have to go on vacation/request days off in order to use your PTO if you are an hourly partner P.s. This is not the same as using sick time

Thank you for explaining that. I appreciate it.

With vacation time, you can definitely use however many you would like. It is time earned and you are entitled to that, and paid out for it when you leave. Sick time however, cannot be used the same. First check your paystub to see how many vacation hours you have e available to you, and then just write it in the punch communication log.

Thank you! I’ll give that a shot.

Not sure I understand the question. are you leaving the company?

Not leaving. I had some hospital bills come up. Had an ambulance come get me from work so I’m going to probably have to pay for that. At past jobs I was able to cash out some vacation time before the end of the year, but I’m being told I can’t at Starbucks.
