Question for baristas that have been around for a few years…..
I was just told from my SM that I am scheduled for a area call with my DM and RD. The SM said it is just them wanting to know about how it is as a partner since I started. I have gotten a few texts from other baristas that started 6 months ago with SB at the same time as myself. They have calls this week with the same people as I do. We don’t all work at the same location but are all in the same district.
Is this normal??

From what I'm hearing, this is a low ball tactic to feel out how many people plan to unionize. If you seem content, they can probably brush it off as you're fine and don't want a union. It could totally be them just checking up on you, but I've never heard of a RD being part of a call like that... my SM has sat me down with my DM before, but never a RD.

We have a lot more problems going on in my location than that. We have the worst SM. Partners do t want to work when the SM is at the store

Ah, yeah. That could definitely be a factor. The reason the higher ups are getting involved is likely still the unionizing is my bet. They’re started showing up around places much more since Buffalo started. Otherwise it’d probably just be your DM.

So it ended up being a area call with just the RD and about 30 partners. No ASM or SM on the call. But since my manager was “out sick” (called out 20 mins before start of shift) I was the only partner on the call that called in from my personal phone. Everyone else was on the video meeting. I didn’t get to talk because we need to click the raise hand button but I couldn’t. So I was told just to email in all of my comments concerns about what is going on at my location. It was a total waste of an hour of my shift. I should have been on the floor working. My poor shift was only with one new partner. It was the lunch rush and I was stuck on the stupid call.

Half my store was randomly selected for a round table discussion with our DM on Friday. I was told it's just to see how people are feeling about the state of the company.
Some of us are seasoned partners, some are 1 month green beans. I wouldn't worry about it

It’s most likely a round table to see how things are going. Probably a response to the whole unionization thing.
