Hey guys. I’m currently struggling because I want to know if anyone has been doing the ASU program and which majors. I’m currently accepted in doing Software Engineering (BS) but I’m wondering if That’ll be too much work for me. I’m also wondering if ASU is actually worth doing and if it’ll be hell for the next four years.

PLEASE GIVE ME ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS! I’m really stuck.

Not in that major but in ASU and I love it. I do 3 classes a session so 6 a season aka 18 credits. I personally like that I can do it literally whenever and wherever I want. It IS a lot of work, but I schedule myself to take an “easy” class (think elective) and then a major class so it’s easier to go through.

I like it a lot. It can be a lot of work though. If you’re able, I take 2 scheduled days off a week (my availability) so that I can do school. I take 2 classes a session, so that’s about 12-13 hours. And 1 class for one session of summer. My first session though I just did one class so I could figure out how to be the best with time management. Almost done with mine about 4.5 years in on a business admin degree. Hope it works out for you, I have loved all my computer/excel classes so far!

It works for me, and I think it’s worth it because it matches my learning style and my store has a healthy work environment. I think the type of store is the deciding factor. Having a good store will push you forward, especially if you have a difficult major. It would be hard to stay the four years if your work environment is unhealthy.

I’m a rehire and came back entirely for ASU, I’m coming from healthcare and hoping the majority of my courses transfer over, but I’m looking at software engineering and then doing a MS in Cybersecurity. If it were easy, everyone would do it. Have fun, enjoy the learning process and try to make SBUX your “fun place”. (I still work in healthcare and LOVE my SBUX shifts!)

And dude. I have no idea if I’m going to like my classes or not. But I mean free tuition yk

Absolutely and the perk of it is, if you find you don’t like it, you can always try something else!

Aww I’m glad you like your shifts. Mine have been uhhh controversial and like i feel like a target when I work but that’s for another time 😂

Eh, I don’t agree with a majority of my partners and their practices (such as the weed or ETOH abuse or the shit talking) but at the end of the day, I make coffee for people and if the people are trying to yell at me, I just say “Dude. It’s just coffee, no one is gonna die if you don’t get your triple grande, upside down, Extra hot, soy, PSL…cool it.”

For me it’s the drama. I’m like we’re at a coffee shop???? Let’s focus on the customers??? I’m just trying to do my job, be friendly and treat everyone equally you know? It is what it is but I couldn’t agree more with you

I agree there, I’ve had issues with how some people can be…abrasive on the DT, but again I focus on my interactions with people and let it go. At the end of the day you have “rough” people in all aspects of life and all types of careers. Keep your nose low, stay professional, and just chug along ^.^
