took a week off bc my mental health has been down BAD and decided to take a trip up to a friends cabin in the forest. thought i'd be safe from being asked to work since the schedule has me listed as unavailable/time off but nahhhh got asked like 3 times if i was available to come in and like. i told my coworkers i was going out of town. they all knew i was at least 3 and a half hours drive from the store and s t i l l ask me to come cover shifts. on my vacation. im so tired of this shit.

The same thing happened when I went on vacation, about three hours away. Also I was transferring to a new store after my vacation, so I was technically no longer part of the old store, but it didn't stop them from calling and asking me to come in. 😂🤣

It’s never ending. So many part time partners who don’t wanna work or stick to their schedule.

Unless you're friends with them (like talk outside of work and hang out and stuff) block their numbers while you're on vacation. Alternatively, most phones now have do not disturb modes where you can whitelist people - whitelist everybody except those either in a certain group, or specifically each number so that nobody from work can contact you while you're on vacation.
This way you have access to your phone and texting and whatnot, without having to worry about getting push notifs for bullshit like that!

when i went on vacation i blocked every person i work with (except like 3 people i knew wouldn’t call me about work things) including all my shifts and SM. they knew ahead of time i was going to do it so people wouldn’t ask me about coverage. (i unblocked them all once i was home lol)
there were several people who knew i was on vacation and when i got back they told me “oh i texted you about a shift but it didn’t go through…” and then acted shocked when i told them what i did. who wants to go on vacation just to get a bunch of people begging you to drive 12 hours home to cover their shift?

god i shouldve done that, i dont get why people ask about shift coverage when someone's on vacation like?? do you really think they're gonna say yes??

This is when a group chat is handy, to remind everyone you are out of town. Actually a group chat is also a great way to seek coverage too for those still in the trenches

my store wasn’t allowed to have a group chat because it wasn’t being used properly. night people were using it to trash morning and morning people trashed night, so my SM deleted it

Ours isn’t on it and does not admin it. It’s pretty friendly and helpful

"I'm sorry, when I was unavailable on vacation, we had no signal (lie and don't care because that's what they do) but now that I'm back and clocked in, how can I support you"

I work a separate job outside of Starbucks that’s M-F 8-2:30, and a SSV at the bucks so I rarely agree to coverage based on having already bare minimum free time, been repeating that phrase for 1O months and STILL get asked at least once a week to cover a morning weekday shift 🤦♂️

Someone asked me to cover both of their weekend shifts for the week I came back from vacation (which would’ve been my only 2 days off that week) before I even left for vacation. Then literally the day I got back I had 2 people asked me for coverage. Just ignore them. If I don’t feel like covering or don’t want to cover because I need a break I just ignore whoever asks me. Pretend they didn’t even text. It’s not my problem they have poor planning and don’t look at the schedule.

Same exact thing happened to me when I was on the opposite end of the country for my best friends’ wedding. I had to remind them I was over 1,300 miles away. Multiple times.

Turn on DND set with exceptions for only family and other people who’s texts you want to see. Ignore the rest until you return.

This why I don't answer phone calls from people from work outside of work.
Matter of fact, no one "important" has my number at work lol they'll deal.
