How many training hours did you get? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by redcheekboy
Quick question to everyone: how many hours of training did you get before you were given a regular shift? And how long before you were put on bar / were trusted to bar alone or during rushes?

For context, just wondering whether my experience was standard or rushed or slower than most. I'm a green bean (320) who started 1.5 months ago. I had three full (6 hour days) of training, and then the fourth day I covered some bar training again for the first half and then went on bar unsupervised for the last 2 hours (not alone, but not with a trainer). The next week I was doing regular shifts and was regularly put on bar. We don't have a drive through and I imagine we are less busy than a lot of stores, but I know we are also busier than most in the area.

Would love to hear other's experiences with training, both new partners and people who were trained long ago.

25 hours over about 5 days before I was barista certified at my L store. Day 10 I was running an open-close 14 hour shift solo so it's usually a trial by fire no matter where you work

i got 55 hours (10 shifts) of training. today was my first shift out of training, i’m guessing they won’t put me on bar for awhile

I started two months ago and I had 5 days with my trainer by my side, however, the last couple days were mainly me being on cafe bar (we don’t have drive through either) and my trainer on mobile bar and me just asking questions as needed.

I am currently training someone now and I was allotted five days to train her before she goes on the floor without me, so maybe that’s just the standard for my store…

I had 24 hours of training. When I train new partners, I’m given 20-25 hours of training for them

I got like 1.5 shifts of training cuz everyone got sick and then a few weeks after being shit at everything and never doing bar cuz I didn't know how, they threw me on bar during peak like every day and then I got good :)

320 here, i never really got formally trained, if anything my training came after a few days working dto/dtr during rushes. like, i had maybe a few hours one day with a dedicated trainer teaching me hot bar basics, but everything else i've learned so far on a "question as i go" basis. i still barely know how to do backups💀💀
