Someone just ordered 6 macchiatos and 7 refreshers at my licensed store.(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by [deleted]
Solo barista.
One bar.
They also ordered a Frappuccino.
Zero tip because they work for the company where my licensed store is and they got 50% off. Plus I had a rude old lady demanding service as I was making the drinks.
Fuck it. Might call out tomorrow and give myself the weekend off.

I never could understand why people order more than 4 drinks at a license. We're not equipped to do large orders.
But go you for doing it and dealing with another rude customer. You're killing it!

I had to actually take a break today before I lost my mind. The fact that employees did this really set me off.
snarky_fireball2122 points1y ago
I would be as well! And they were probably really rude huh?
Other employees treating other employees like trash is a very hot point for me so I definitely get it. At my location, Starbucks isn't seen as part of the store. We just exist and everyone tries to walk all over us.

I share space with the deli too so I have people yelling at me about their sandwiches and stuff. It’s aggravating but I’ll take this over corporate still.

It's why my location had a mass walkout and now that location might be shut down permanently :) I was like "good, fuck em"

I'm happy at my Safebucks everyone knows it's Starbucks keeping the grocery store from collapsing. Front end managers rely on their coffee so they can face being chewed out by customers.
Deli relies on their coffee so they can make a gazillion pounds of chicken wings for Karen. We are crucial to the stores morale.
Only ones who don't give a rats ass about us is upper management despite our sales being up at 90% but lower management and the employees love us, we also got a department manager who will chew you out and spit you out if you fuck with us so we're left alone.
We got a good relationship with everyone and it's nice.

Yup, that sounds like my store lol.

I used to work at a safebucks. It was ok.

Same here, cept I'm lucky that my upper management is a GD dream. There's some less than great for workers but all in all they are all grateful to have their coffee shop right there and I love working a liscened store for that reason. Even if we are all struggleing with training
That being said I want to cry any time someone orders a traveler
raptoraptorr32 points1y ago
When customers order a stupid amount of drinks like that I just make them wait for an eternity for it ESPECIALLY if they didn’t tip. So yeah that order would take me half an hour to complete 😂 No tip is an extra ten minutes

I got in done in ten because I was so mad

I felt this , it was around august and at my store it’s a drive thru and all that good stuff. It was around that mid- closing shift time and I was the only one on bar which is okay because to me it’s just practice and it really tests how fast I really am , but being solo on bar and then the drive thru person leaves really changes up the entire mood. Literally only 5 mins after they leave thats when a barrage of cars all decide that they all want funnel cake Frappuccino’s with different customisations. Flexing Drive thru and bar at the moment looked like I was going to lose my shit and I really was when I looked to my side just to see the SSV, another partner, a green bean , and the manager having a lovely conversation about concerts. At this moment I’m boiling, that’s when the closing shift walks in and says yo , why is he the only one on bar and drive thru.

I work at a similar starbucks, I feel you we are literally managed by a 20 year old each day. Themselves haven't been properly trained. I try to keep her applauded each day. The girl is falling apart so quickly. We finally got some food now. I am happy to keep my job going cause I am a good worker. Nothing is gonna happen to me. My manger days are slowly numbered. Which reliefs me from time to time. Holy shit. The mental capacity isnt there for this position.

I am so sorry. I know that kind of pain for working at a license store
ttime462 points1y ago
so i am the department manager for one in a vons, and i shit you not a customer came in yesterday and ordered 21 drinks….spent $98 at a starbucks in a grocery store, when i tell u i was in a state of shock

The store manager at the krobucks I used to work at expected me to make 5 travelers for a meeting he was holding and do opening tasks and have everything done by 7 when we opened. It didn't happen. He also marked out the travelers, so he got them all free (he only even took 4, so I wasted one of them).
Another time, I was alone finishing up an iced tea when a lady from the jewellery department who always treated us like garbage demanded I drop what I was doing and help her. When I told her it would be a second, she gave me attitude, said she didn't have time to wait for me, and she was going to another coffee shop (she didn't have time for me to finish an iced tea, but she had time to drive to another coffee shop?)
I hated that place so much...

I usually enjoy my licensed store but when the employees pull this crap it drives me nuts. My supervisor felt bad and told me to tell them to either split the orders or call ahead so I’d have time to make them. They ordered for everyone on their crew so it was just a lot.
Luckily management has my back on this one.
chrichri333331 points1y ago
Glad management was on your side, at least!
philosopher_cat_lady-28 points1y ago
Honestly, I'm on the old lady's side. That customer with the 14 drinks needs to wait a little longer than the old lady with one.
[deleted] [OP]21 points1y ago
She wasn’t ordering drinks. She was being rung out and she was nasty to me before I’d even turned around to help her.
navkabar6 points1y ago
i would probably pause on the big order to ring her up/make her drink too, but not if she was rude.
philosopher_cat_lady-1 points1y ago
I would. Otherwise, you're gonna hear more rudeness from her for 15 minutes.
